That's fine ........... I just think it's wiser to go another direction. Hell if they land him great ..........
- fastek

But who ? Eberle isn't even close to Stamkos

The #Sabres say Kasdorf will be reporting to Buffalo. Well, that's certainly interesting.

Interesting indeed...

Edit: could be for the $$

Everyone knows he's great ......... that can't even be argued. The folks that have a problem with him coming here is based on cost and what it does to the team moving forward. Nothing more to it than that really. Oh and plus the fact he's not the last piece to the puzzle ..........
- fastek

Why does he have to be the "last" piece?
It's not like guys with his talent are UFA every year
We gotta go after him while we can

As far as other pieces go...
No reason they can be acquired at the draft, or even during the season, or even next offseason
He'd presumably sign for 7 years
So even if it takes another year or 2 to add the final pieces...
That's still a minimum of 5 years for us to go after it

Yes I brought it up on the page prior. I think maybe it was to have him practice here for the remainder of the season and get him use to it, see how he interacts. He's an RFA at the end of the year due to his age and I'd bet Murray decides what to do with him after that.

I think we did the same thing when we signed Ruhwedel...
Told him he could play the rest of the year in Buffalo, but then next season he'd have to compete for a roster spot

Also...
We currently have 3 goalies in Rochester & they're competing for a playoff spot, so it was doubtful he'd get any games there anyways
Maybe we told him he'd get a couple games up here

I understand the hesitation in paying him, but I think the moment he puts on a Sabre sweater most would just be estatic.
- sbroads24

No argument there .......... it would be a special moment indeed.

There's nobody close. Guys of this talent just don't usually hit the UFA market at 27. I guess Yandle makes a lot of sense but he'll have a kot of suitors. I think he's a bit overrated although he is a LHD. Only 5 goals this year!!

Only because for the money it takes to get him, it might and likely would hamper future/immediate needs. That's all ..........and I know you are smart enough to see that point.

Even if he was though...
We'd have to give up assets to get him

And that's IF the Oilers were even willing to trade him?

How can you be certain ....... in no uncertain terms in fact the next Stamkos isn't sitting at 3 in the draft?

That's part of my hesitation ...........

This is why I want to land in the top 3 so badly. I just feel there is a future Stamkos sitting right there ....... for NOTHING.

Like what though?
I don't wanna go after guys that are already 30 like Backes & Ladd
Ppl on here are already worried about when Stamkos will be that age in FOUR years

And if it's a trade...
Isn't Stamkos the kind of guy we'd wanna trade for?!

I'll worry about secondary guys SECOND
If we can add a top guy like Stammer, I think we have to go for it

I can in no uncertain terms..

I just checked there is no one named Stamkos in this years draft. Not even with 6 or 7 letters.

Don't think we'll be drafting 3rd this year. And if he's a UFA why would we need to waste a pick on him?

Agree

As far as UFAs go...
If we don't get Stamkos, idk if there's another guy I'd even sign

I don't consider Yandle a "#1" and he'll be 30 next season
The other guys that are significant are all 30+ as well
Don't wanna sign those guys to 7 year deals

Let's say your right...

Wouldn't it be awesome to have BOTH added to our "core" that's already here?

Let's say we pick top3 like u say,
And don't get Stamkos...

What are these secondary moves that you'd try & do?
