have to stream most Flyers games, live in south Fla now. saw the game live. Flyers looked a bit tired last night. They fought hard, but don't kid yourselves, this Panthers team is a good young team led by Jagr. I loved that goal by Cousins. I was screaming at Gagner to do something good and he came out of the corner against two guys and fed Cousins for the tap in. . Think either White or Vandy needs to sit when Jake comes back. Slide Raffle to either wing on the fourth line and leave Gagner with Coots and Jake. That would be scary good and stil drive possession. Jake does that better then Rafl Love what Gagner is doing. He is making some good defensive plays too. (Rangers just tied the game) BTW, the whole place went nuts when Ghost scored. A little Ghostly magic. This kid is awesome. I was much happier with the results last night then when I saw them game two with the Mason melt down. Go Flyers!! Tuesday night is huge!!! root against the Pens and for Toronto to night.

I'm more in favour of being conservative again this summer, laying off the free agents and waiting a couple more years for our window to open before we make big name acquisitions.

Also, I don't think the money quite works here. Backes is going to get paid big. With what cap is projected to go up to I think the Flyers will have about 12 million to resign Schenn, Cousins Gudas and fill Manning/White's spots. Not a whole lot of room to add a free agent like Backes

let's not forget the choker nash who put the puck directly into the logo on a breakaway that would have given them the lead. then they squander the weak penalty call.

I really can't root for them under any circumstance. I don't have dislike for the Penguins like I do for the Rags, and Devils

VandeVelde is definitely odd man out for me in this lineup.

Gagner has played really well, to the point I'm wondering what the Flyers are going to do with him and White. I'm starting to think I wouldn't hate giving both 1 year extensions. Just spit balling a future line-up here...

Schenn-Giroux-Simmonds
Laughton-Couturier-Voracek
Gagner-Cousins-Konecny
Raffl-Bellemare-White
-VandeVelde, Free Agent/Leier/Bardreau/etc

MDZ-Schultz
Gostisbehere-Gudas
AMac-Provorov/Sanheim/Morin/Hagg
-Free Agent

(Trade Streit and Read, resign Gagner and White, buy-out Umberger, One defensive rookie makes team, one FA dman, Konecny makes team, and either a FA forward or Phantom makes team)

I'm trying to envision this current line-up with some added skating and skill elements. The Lighting and the Panthers are two very good teams. 3 out of 4 points on this trip isn't bad at all, especially considering these games were back to back. To beat the Lighting the way we did and then take the Panthers the very next night all the way to a shoot-out is impressive IMO.

Really, really liking what Hakstol is building here. I haven't seen a Flyers team defend this cohesively in quite awhile. Every team has their breakdowns obviously, but this team is starting to consistently get a great defensive effort from all 5 guys on the ice. It's very fun to watch.

Just a tad bit more skill and skating ability and I think we're really onto something here.

I wouldn't be all that surprised if Gagner gets a multi year offer from some team this summer with the way he has played.

i hate them, as has been well documented, but if it helps the flyers, i put it aside. they're going to make it regardless, so the result is meaningless for them.

i don't have a true hate for the pens either.

I know I personally want a 32 year old big, not especially fast skater who has started to show decline, who will be asking for $6 mil for 4-5 years, so that we can replace Coots with a worse player as 2C.

I hear you. Well it looks like the Flyers won't be getting much help from anyone, so they will really have to play lights out to have a chance to make the playoffs.

long way to go. the flyers are 6-1-1 in their last 8 i think. that will be a tough pace to hold, especially on the road. the 5 head to head games are the key, and a huge stroke of luck in the schedule. hopefully jake contributes when he comes back. it's not a guarantee.

let's hope the wings lose tonight.
