Was this really so hard? You haven't said anything remotely like this until now.

We really must speak two different languages, because my points have been consistent and clearly stated. Nobody else is struggling like you are. I can empathize, because frankly I never understand a single thing you're trying to say ever.

I'm not saying this to be mean, I'm just being honest with you.

What's the difference between the Rangers signing young talent Girardi or trading for a young player like McDonagh before entering the NHL like we have with Brayden Schenn? We didn't draft Simmonds or Voracek. There is nothing wrong with making moves for youth for a bright future.

I agree. Anytime your team identifies players with high upside who end up contributing to the team it's a positive, regardless of how the team acquired that player.

My only point was that I don't look to NYR as a model for drafting and developing prospects. Just my opinion, but I wanted to see if the past draft boards supported that in any way.

That said, we all know how bad the Flyers past track record for drafting D prospects is, but I'm still really excited and hopeful for the kids we have in our current system.

There is also nothing wrong with FA. Just dont be crazy and throw available money at every shiny new toy. Its more so about putting in some time with that slightly shy girl, who becomes a freak in bed once comfortable.

Instead of chasing back alley Sally and catching herpes.

I really don't have a problem with how the Rangers have built their team (even if their window has been relatively short and objectively fruitless). I don't have a problem with cashing in when you're a real contender either (See: Chicago, LA). I just have no desire to skip from "team on the upswing" to "second rate contender, already gone all in". The best is yet to come.
- BulliesPhan87

Chicago has also made a number of trades to replenish their system. They basically acquire a strong supporting cast player then trade him when his value is high and he's due for a raise. Their core is so strong they can continue to do this. Their more recent trades haven't been as fruitful and the Toews/Kane deals will eventually cause some issues. There are only so many Panarins out there.

Hawks have pretty much played things as well as you can.

Who have the Rangers regrettably given away? Lundqvist was drafted with the Rangers. Stephen, Staal and Krieder were drafted with the Rangers. Girardi and McDonagh are smart moves for youth, as we did for Voracek, Simmonds and Schenn.

If the Rangers don't win the Cup this year, they will have traded Duclair and 3 first rounders and 3 seconds rounds for nothing

Yeah, I think Hexy said the plan is to add final touches to the roster through FA when the core of a contending team is in place. That's logical to me. Worked for CHI with Hossa, LA with Carter and then Gaborik, etc.

I am slightly curious if they will be able to make that run in a short enough time that Giroux and Voracek can be your top dogs.

Or will it be more so of a "as one core moves out, another moves in".

The Bickell signing is also one of the few regrettable signings they've done recently too. But I agree they've done it about as good as a team can and they already have 3 cups. So they're definitely the gold standard IMO.

Yeah. Even if things bottom out in 3-4 years, no one is going to complain after winning a gazillion cups.

The core won a cup in their early 20s and will have contended for a cup for at least 10 more years. Can't really get better than that.

You better hope so or god forbid you may have to give up draft picks and prospects while your window is open and then rangers fans will say they would rather be where they are waiting for all their prospects to pan out and flyers fans will say they are happy giving up the picks and prospects because they are close but rangers fans will say...

Why would I want to jump from the window opening to the window closing? Why would I skip the part in the middle? No doubt in my mind, I would not trade places.
