Larsson has woken up the last 6 or 7 games.
The 50 before that, most peoples opinion on him was that we couldnt give him away fast enough.
Like i said in my previous comment.mthey're both young and have no business demanding any sort of real money. Keep them both and see what happens.
Bottom 6 for both of them. Fits the LA/Chi mold if even only one of the works out.

- seedy

Makes sense
Although if Girgensons ends up being a "fit" on Jack's wing,
I'm ok with that

Idk why we have to have our 6 best scorers on our top2 lines?
It's ok to balance it out so we have 3 lines that can score
Look at Detroit...
Nyquist has spent a lot of time on the 3rd line this year, while guys like Helm & Abdelkader played above him
Not that you HAVE to do it that way,
But I'm not gonna argue with 25 straight years of playoffs either

It's WAY TOO SOON for any of us to say who should be on what line
It's still a work in progress

How many legit #1 D-Men are in the leauge?

How many legit #1 centers in the league?

- Stripes77

Depends on your definition of "#1"
U could make a good argument for or against a guy like Bergeron
And I'll get blasted for this...
But I'd say the same about Karlsson. As dominant as he is offensively, he's nowhere close to a "shut down" guy in his own end.

He also had a few choice words on his Twitter feed which were not well received. Words that are used as slurs against people with disabilities.

I would say there are more #1 centers than #1 Defensemen

Doughty, Keith, Subban, Karlsson, OEL

Toews, Bergeron, McDavid (he is already), Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos, Sedin (yeah he is still that good), Seguin, Getzlaf, Thorton, Giroux even though he plays wing more I believe, Backstrom (washington)

Indeed. Just because those words may sound like the names of people, it's not okay to substitute them in there...

Fitz made a good point about what is considered #1. Would Hedman or Ekblad be a #1? Weber or Josi? The kid in Colorado or Suter?

Keep Gerbe because he's fast, keep Kaleta because he's a home town boy, keep Girgensons because he's a go getter, keep Foligno because of his name.

And we wonder why Sabre fans are at the nearest bar watching the playoffs and yet another expansion team winning a cup.

- SABRES 89

I don't necessarily think that's wholly true, 89...

you've got a good point when you rail against basing a player's future on anything other than his contributions on the ice...but those mentioned were on mediocre teams at best for all those years--even with two of the top-20 centers in the league

oh, and btw, Girgensons isn't a go getter, he's a lioneater

There's probably about 10-12 of each that most ppl would agree with
Then another group of 10-12 that ppl could make a good argument one way or the other about

Just with Hedman & Ekblad...
Ekblad made the All-Star team this year over Hedman, and last year as well I believe

Yet Stripes says Hedman over Ekblad
It's so subjective

That in itself is subjective as well.

I just think the premier defenders are more scarce than #1 centers

True... That's my point
Wasn't necessarily saying u were wrong
Who even picks the AllStar teams now?

You're probably right about more centers vs defensemen, but I don't think it's a wide margin

Pieterangelo didn't get brought up. Did Keith or Seabrook?
If "#1" means "shutdown guy against other teams' top scorers" then u could even include guys like Hjarmalsson
There's McDonaugh for NYR, Vlassic in SJ, probably a few others that weren't mentioned as well

I think Seabrook & McDonaugh are VERY comparable
Having Keith on the same team gets him overlooked a little IMO

But he's one of those guys I think you could argue either way

Suter should still be on that list IMO, even with this "down" year

A bunch more u could argue one way or the other

100% agree on everything you're saying. I'm fine with Girgensons doing better than expected. But if he doesn't, I think He/Larsson/Foligno would make a fine 3rd line for 2-3 years. People have mentioned Bailey and Fasching in that role. It sounds good on paper until they ice the puck and the opposing team gets to put their first line out against them in their own zone. A couple of years experience being a defensive forward can keep a lot of mistakes from happening. And if they regularly play against other bottom 6 talent, I think they would do at least average work.
