"During Bylsma's weekly Tuesday radio appearance on WGR, he was asked point-blank where he saw Girgensons fitting in the future and if he's decided what type of player he's going to be long-term. Bylsma said that he thinks Girgensons has played his best on the wing and that his best was on the second-line with Eichel. "I think that's where we see Zemgus at his best for our team," he told co-hosts Jeremy White and Matthew Coller. "No question I see that going forward for

"[With] the injury situation to our team right now, and the [team] make-up, Zemgus is not playing with [Eichel] on the wing where he was earlier on, but I see him in the top-six on that wing and doing his best there.""

this makes no f@cking sense

I'm starting to think we got a scrub coach that rode Crosby's coat tail

Yeah when your offensive game plan is to stick players with the 19 year old to get their #'s up something ain't right.

I say trade Zemgus to Detroit for Nyquist or Tatar.

Larsson is finding his way on the score sheet even with increased defensive responsibilities.

Let's not get carried away, he has 10 points in 61 games..

Has this been evident this season? I think I can name on one hand the games he's had an impact on

I have no issues with Girgensons being here long term. I think he is a good bottom 6 player who could potentially be on line 2.

However....the narrative that he has been driven into the ground with defensive responsibilities is overblown. It was O'Reilly to start the year, and Larsson currently. I think that Girgensons not being able to grasp what Bylsma is trying to do might have some justification.

Larsson 40% Off. Zone start
Girgensons 46% Off. Zone start

Larsson is finding his way on the score sheet even with increased defensive responsibilities.

- sbroads24

I'm not sure who's been paired where over the last couple weeks, or if those numbers you posted are season-long or recent, but nearly half of Larsson's points have come in his last 7 games. 4 points in 7, 6 others in 54 games.

If Larsson is able to keep it up, then I'd be more impressed. For now though, it's too small of a sample size to think that it's how he'll be. It's also late in a contract year.

4 points in last 7 games
moved up the depth chart

girgens took one faceoff and is playing less than 12 minutes a night

this team does not have ror, ennis, moved a top 6 winger and girgens is getting less than 12 minutes a night

that's all you need to know to figure out who this staff likes more

and a much higher return would be received for girgens than larsson in a trade

if the rumor is true that girgens refuses to play the system he needs to be moved

if the coach refuses to play girgens in top 6 for lack of faith, and he is trying to use the system, then we have a big problem behind the bench

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when GMTM talks to Dan in the office

Im not convinced this is true, especially with the year he's had.

Sounds like they wanted a high point total from him so they could move him for something better as GMTM said that he doesn't think Eichel's running mate is on the team yet.

- homiedclown

If he can't play "system hockey" Im not even sure that's true anymore. If you believe he has that much higher of a ceiling then he should be here long term and we should find a way to make it work, even if it's in the bottom 6. But if he can't play in the system here why would anyone pay more for him than they would for Larsson?

I thought about that. I've also been afraid this franchise is too in love with him. I do recall early in the season Bylsma had a long talk with him during practice about his role and the team and expected career in the NHL. Interesting it took a turn for the worse after that.

Has a "blogger" ever gotten banned by a ref? I mean this isn't the first time a Garth blog had to be locked

Giving up on Lioneater, with his upside, after these last 2 seasons of suck, would be a mistake

If he can't score goals...regardless of a so called system.

Yeah, he is only 22. The age of the average NFL draft pick.
