Both play at both ends, both don't have a ton of points this year (One is a rookie)

One of them is Jack Eichel's future winger that can still be "special"

with what's left girgens is not a top 6 guy up front

I would move Girgensons ++ to the Kings for Jake Muzzin, good LHD with a 4 mill cap hit. Kings need to move money to keep Lucic.

No that move wouldnt get lindholm or Trouba but Muzzin isn't quite them, he's solid but not elite or future elite...

And more trade routes open up during FA when you need to make cap cuts

But they wouldn't even part with Muzzin BEFORE he became a good partner for Doughty
Tough to imagine they'd trade him now

So unless they're just trying to build up his trade value?
That doesn't really seem like a Murray thing to do though. He's a pretty straight shooter.

Agreed on all fronts. Girgensons belongs on the 3rd line where he can focus on D and get a few goals. And that's not a bad thing. 3rd line centers play an important role, especially if you're going against the top lines effectively. I'm not saying he sucks or I want to trade him but put him where he's best suited.

If we trade him for a good return then of course I'm good for it. But I'm not thinking we need to trade him now or we'll regret it.

That doesn't make them right. They can say they want him to be a 2nd line player but that doesn't mean he is. That means we have a GM/Coach who overvalues his depth players.
