So if we are picking 5-7 in the draft do we trade it at the draft or make the pick? If it's Chychrun or Juolevi, I would see if we can get a team interested in trade.

Cheers!

Been my position all along. There ceilings are what #1/2 d-men if things go right? could negate the risk and speed up your rebuild if you move it for a young NHL #1/2

Absolutely. If we can trade and add to it to Anaheim who might want to move way up in the first rd for one of their d men, cool. They don't have a 2nd so we could move ours as a part of that trade, could be a deal there.

By the end of next year...
Last night's2nd line could easily be our 4th

Kane-O'Reilly-Reinhart
Eichel-STAMKOS-(draft pick)
Ennis-Girgensons-Bailey/Fasching
Foligno-Larsson-Gionta
Deslauriers
*hopefully have traded Moulson somehow (I know, just wishful thinking)

- jdfitz77

Can you guys Pleaseeeeee stop penciling in Stamkos onto our future lineup.

It's just not going to happen, and I for one hope it doesn't. Someone is going to gravely overpay, over $10M per for a really good player, but also one that hasn't shown he's a GREAT player since he was injured in 2013

If our pick is outside the top5,
Then I think it should definitely be in play

But u could be right...
It might have to be regardless

I could see Kane being in play also
Bogosian wouldn't be the centerpiece of a deal though. Maybe if it was something like Fasching & Bogo for...
That could be possible

just ran the lottery simulator a bunch of times. i hit the canadian trifecta about half the time. didnt realize all 7 canadian teams are gonna miss the playoffs. looking at the remaining schedule, we could win 10 out of 14- which would leave us at 83 points. actually running the simulator you get a feel for how unlikely it is that the sabres will win, and its going to get worse if they reel off a bunch of wins in the home stretch. yeah, if we want that pick to be of use next year, its probably gonna have to be moved.

Not too familiar with this dude. Is he related to Brian Bellows or something? Is he a projected 1st rounder?

edit- never mind, looks like a mid 1st rd pick.

I think u missed the "could" part of my post
And you greatly missed the point

It was that if we add just a couple guys,
Our 4th line could be made up of guys that were on our 2nd line last night
And that could put us in shape to make a real leap up the standings

We'll trade half our team so we can sign him. It's the Pegula m.o.

I'm with not getting Babcock
If he's dumb enough to think the Leafs were his best option, then maybe he's not as smart as we all thought

With all the young talent on Detroit, he prob should've just stayed there

If we don't get Stamkos, idk if I want us to do anything in free agency
I don't like Boedker
And guys like Ladd & Backes would be nice for about 3-4 years, but signings them to a big $$$ deal for 7 years would be a mistake at their age

Trades, trades, trades and more trades. That's what Murray needs to do this off season. Get rid of the dead weight and manage the dead weight you're stuck with. Try and get young players with upside.

He could've taken a year off & went to a different nice city

Most of the other "nice cities" are trending the wrong way. Toronto projects to get better during the duration of his contract, not worse

He and his wife really wanted to go to Toronto. He was also outspoken about how little coaches got paid compares to the other major sports. This was all about setting a precedent. Taking a year off was never an option.

Strange though, Quennville's new deal pays him 2.75 mil/yr
