Apparently Schultz and Pouliot are third pairing. Kind of excited to see what happens. - cranktheradio
I'm with ya there. Should be pretty interesting. |

Iowa is a right to work state. No unions needed. We are decent to our workers without needing to be told to be.
If they want job security they should stop being bad at their job. Its worked for decades now, they should try it. - Zac_O
The NHL is the culprit behind the moronic and inconsistent reffing. Always has been, always will be. Year after year they change the standards. Hell, they change standards mid-season. |

I would agree with you there. However, Pouliot's been much better in the D zone the last few weeks. I'd rather DP and Schultz then Cole/Schultz. - cranktheradio
Cole was doing a lot of PK since he's returned. This is an interesting decision if it happens. I thought it was widely reported that Pouliot was the odd man out. |

Yeah, I saw in Depioli's site that Pouliot will sit. On Pens site there are two different reports. One preview has Cole scratched, other says DP is scratched. Oh well. I guess we'll see. |

If anyone would sit, I'd prefer it to be Schultz against the Isle. |

I have a feeling this will be a pretty good game tonight. Love how tight the playoff race is and how our schedule is almost all division games. It's basically like we have playoffs to get into the playoffs. |

So... if you were one the union heads, and you pushed for an improvement to technology that would almost completely eliminate the war room, and lose however many refs jobs that results in, you'd be all for it?
You are thinking logically, from a fan and coach perspective, but officiating unions are VERY strong in all sports, and this just won't happen. - Guile
I don't understand the loss of jobs aspect, the refs job would be pretty much unchanged with the exception of making goal calls, there'd still be 4 every game (2- refs and 2-linesman ) so where would the lost jobs come from? |

It makes them more expendable. Unions NEVER want to concede their self-preservation. Even in a marginal sense. Reality though, is that the NHLPA and especially the NHL are far more powerful. |

Reading... reading helps a lot dude. The WAR ROOM is an instant job loss there. Then you likely lose both linesmen down this road. Why the need if they can have a sensor that would have a light or whistle go off for an offside automatically? |

Fehr still kills the Pens by never being in the lineup and not producing even the few times he is. - sammy87
Yeah like its his fault he's not in the lineup. I'm sure YOU would have been just fine if that happened to you. Fehr is the Pends best defensive forward and his leadership and steadiness is irreplaceable. Man you just sound dumb every time you type something. |

So no Pouliot-Shultz 3rd pairing... phew. |

Thats a huge stretch right there. It'll be a long time till anytjings automatic. The goal sensor would simply alert the refs of a good goal. Not set off the goal lights and auto update peoples stats. What you're talking about is 20-30 years at best. What im talkimg about can be 5-10 if the NHL truly wants it. This isnt McDonald's, cant fully automate referees. |

Screw that. I want a fully automated car by 2020. And I wanna be able to plug into the Matrix by 2025. |

You're right, absolutely right... but when you go to the minds of old NHL heads, the ref heads, and GMs... pushing that narrative as a near scare tactic is a lot easier. |

Hey guys. Just got home from work but heard something interesting.
Was listening to Stan Savaran radio show today and he had an Orthopedic Surgeon and was asking him questions about Pens injuries. He brought up Maatta's hit into the bench door and getting a bad abdomen injury. He asked the Dr. if an ab injury could effect someone's speed. The doc said yes, it is very possible it could be. He did not go into too much more detail because he did not know the exact injury.
I found this interesting because I remember we all had the big conversation about Maatta during post about his contract. I do not think any of us talked about that injury and his lose of speed this year. I find it interesting.
Just thought Id pass this along. |

If they have half a brain they'll be fully in support a sensor that alerts the war room a puck fully crossed the goal line. They still need to determine if it was a legal goal. |

What would the War room the is manned by NHL officials have to do with the referees union? How would a chip in the puck know where the players are on the ice to tell if someone was offsides thus making the linesman obsolete? |
