Yeah its lame. I have DirectTV and NBCSN and NHLN are on separate upgrades. I bought CenterIce for the last 2 months of the season, but the Pens have a bunch of games on NBCSN now so its lame. I dont think the NFL Ticket is as stupid.
Ill probably be a cord cutter soon, wife and I never watch Cable outside of something on live like Sports. - sammy87
It's hard to do it now because all the top internet packages come with a bundle. But with the proliferation of internet streaming, i do think we will start to see an a la carte viewing package in the near future. Maybe someone more knowledgeable (Guile!!!) can correct me but I believe Google is working on something like that right now. |

BB and fehr on ice for game day skate. I would not put these two frail guys in against the nyi. I'd just hold them out till playoffs unless there is a real reason to play them.
Hags still not on ice.. Wilson up with Sid and horn and DP Schultz Cole rotating |

Looks like Bennett and Fehr could both be in tonight. Wonder if that means no Sestito....
I dont have a probably with having a tough guy in our lineup here and there, but Sestito strikes me as bigger than he is tough. Doesn't seem to win enough fights and too slow to really check anyone effectively. Give me a Matt Martin 10/10 over Sestito.
Speaking of which, I hope if Sestito plays tonight that he can keep Martin's attention away from important players. |

Maybe I'm just being bĂtchy but do Pens fans really care about Jagr anymore? I used to love him but he's been gone for so long at this point. - jfkst1
As a "younger" fan aka didnt know of the pens during the Jagr era, I don't care much. I think it'd be cool for him to play his very last season with the pens and retire a penguin. But I wouldn't want the team to go out of their way to make it happen. My biggest memory of him is him coming back from the KHL and reports saying he wants to be with the pens only. Then he makes the pens bid against their biggest rivals. So I'm jaded when it comes to him I guess. |

Well they usually start at 5pm my time so its nice to blow through intermission and commercials and watch a game in about an hr. |

I certainly hope they dont dress him but if they are hopefully he fights Martin...In my hockey pool hits and penalty mins are counted and I have Martin. |

This is crazy...Scuds played 23:41 last night...had an assist and a plus 3
Apparently the stats guys at that game were not interested in the giveaway/takeaway numbers very much or it was a game with almost no turnovers...LA had 6 giveaways and Vancouver only 3...Scuds had 2 of the 6 - icedog97
Is anybody really surprised that Scuderi is a better fit on a defensively disciplined team like the Kings?

I understand the convenience of it. It's just the 3 or 4 times I PVR'd their games, they lost. So never again. |

Bennett/Fehr skating, Hagelin is not
Edit: Wilson skating with Sid and Hornqvist - Pens_Burgh
Fehr has always killed us. Wanted us to make a push for him over the summer. |

No, but I think everyone is surprised he is playing at all. Much less on a prime contender's top pairing. |

Better is a relative term. I never saw him as a top pairing defenseman on any team at this point in his career. |

He used to kill us too, but then we signed him, and he's been pretty mediocre. |

No...but I never thought he'd see almost 24 minutes of ice time in a game again |

Status quo. Another year with a WBS scrub on Sid's line :'-(

Yeah he was always solid against us as well. Loved the pickup in the offseason but he's been a typical Penguin with his injuries. He'll be welcomed back into the bottom 6 though for sure. |

Neither Scuderi nor Russell have been with their respective teams for very long.
When I think of poor dman play, I can think of many instances where critical moments lead to losses in individual games. E.g.: Girardi's giveaways in the SCFs a few years ago let to several GWGs. Orpik allowed the GWG to Bennett earlier this season. - jfkst1
It's definitely a small sample size for how long the players have been with their respective teams but I think it says something when the 2 best possession teams in the league see value in using that type of player in a big role. As far as the turnovers, that can happen to any defenseman regardless of the possession numbers, look at the horrid turnover by Maata a few games back that led to a goal, not to mention that the top 5 defenseman in turnovers in the league are Subban, Doughty, Karlsson, Seabrook and Markov. Extending that a little farther,Russell at -14 and Scuderi at -16 have far better giveaway/takeaway ratios than players like Subban(-83) & Doughty(-71) so when looking at it strictly from a turnover standpoint the top guys like Subban, Douhgty & Karlsson are going to make far more costly mistakes that hurt the team than players like Scuderi & Russell will.
I'm not saying I would want Scuderi back on the roster(I did want Russell but not at that price) but I think their play and roles with their current teams show that they weren't in Scuderi's case and wouldn't have been in Russell's case the single-handed anchor on possession that many of RW's blogs have painted them out to be.

How can you say that about Wilson 5goals in 10 games and a couple of assists. This is what they should be doing. Putting the young guys that are producing on a top line. How do you think all those Russian kids (last name ending in -ov) in tamp gained experience and grew into scorers? Not by playing 3rd /4th line mins.
I'm happy as hell Wilson is up there and hopefully rust will take Kuni's slot next ur when he gets traded at draft
Ok I know he isn't going to get traded but moved down to 3rd line |

So if you dont get NHLN or NBCSN you can't get it right? I was trying to record it this morning and couldn't find it listed. - sammy87
As part of the center ice package I get those two channels included so I can see all the games.
At the start of the season I had bought the sports package so I could watch on Root Sports and not have to pay for Center Ice. But with that package I couldnt get NHLN or NBCSN, so I had to give in and get Center Ice.
Next year Ill probably go with Gamecenter so that I can watch on my phone/tablet. I still cant believe you cant get one form of the package that lets you watch on every form of media.
Edit: on DTV its 220 for NBCSN and 215 for NHLN. For me it may be local market since I live in NJ, which puts the game on MSG. thats like channel 620 or somewhere near there. |

See, I hate commercials and intermission. So I record games and then start watching about an hr after they start so I can fast forward through anything that isnt the actual game. F Milbury anyway. |

It's kinda what you do when you're trying to figure everything and everybody out. Plenty of guys struggled to get to the NHL and then exploded when they got here. |
