Thanks Bill. To show up, or not to show up is the question for the Flyers. Which team do we get tonight? I predict that Gudas gets a hat trick against his former team. In addition, I predict that Coby#55 will score a goal as well. Tampa loses 3-1...lol. Carle is a scratch, and I guess VL isn't a factor either...doh.

I have my concerns about Sanheim-just have this feeling we might be disappointed with him at the NHL level. We'll see about Meyers. Konecny I really believe will be a tougher, more physical danny briere. Somewhat of a hybrid between Briere, Flyers version Mike Richards and Gallagher. The skill, heart and physical play.

But yeah, Provorov might just be the smartest dman in the league when he comes in. Might not be as physically imposing as a Weber or as offensively inclined as EK but he won't make mistakes while driving the play in both ends.

- orangekrush2010

I'm just crossing my fingers and really hoping sanheim is a physical and aggressive enough personality on the ice. He's still young, but the battles in the corners of the NHL are a different animal. He needs AHL time which is fine, and time to bulk up his frame. He has a lot of the tools but the is he going to be a hard enough player on the ice? Doesn't need to be the hardest, just consistently willing

Mystery question of life:
If Coburn score a goal, is 2Real happy that he can toot his, "LOL another former Flyer player score against us," horn, or will he refuse to admit Coburn has ever done anything good at all?

Detroit hanging by a thread. Flyers went from -15 goal differential to -9 in one game. It seems like that 2nd wildcard spot is going to be filled by a team who isn't scoring quite as well as their opponent. Good times.

I'll be awaiting Coburn's patented move of being behind his net making a clearing pass to the opposing team tonight.

Tampa is riding a 9-game win streak? Sheesh. This will likely be one of those frustrating games to watch.

He'll Ted Cruz it... I hate Coburn. I never said anything bad about Coburn. Coburn can't play hockey. I love talking about Coburn! Who is this Coburn person and why are you bringing him up all the time? etc.

I'm really high on him, but here are some WHL defenseman season records:

MOST POINTS BY A DEFENCEMAN IN ONE SEASON'S PLAYOFF:

34 - John Miner, Regina Pats, (9 goals, 25 assists), 1984 (23 games).
33 - Keith Brown, Portland Winter Hawks, (3 goals, 30 assists), 1979 (25 games).
31 - Darren Veitch, Regina Pats, (13 goals, 18 assists), 1980 (18 games).
- Greg Hawgood, Kamloops Blazers, (9 goals, 22 assists), 1986 (16 games).
30 - Matt Kinch, Calgary Hitmen, (7 goals, 23 assists), 1999 (21 games).

MOST POINTS BY A ROOKIE DEFENCEMAN:

93 - Robin Sadler, Edmonton Oil Kings (32 goals, 61 assists), 1974-75.
92 - Doug Bodger, Kamloops Junior Oilers (26 goals, 66 assists), 1982-83.

MOST GOALS BY A DEFENCEMAN:

50 - Lawrence Sacharuk, Saskatoon Blades, 1971-72.

MOST ASSISTS BY A DEFENCEMAN:

118 - Cam Plante, Brandon Wheat Kings, 1983-84.
111 - Jim Benning, Portland Winter Hawks, 1980-81.

MOST POINTS BY A DEFENCEMAN:

140 - Cam Plante, Brandon Wheat Kings (22 goals, 118 assists), 1983-84.
139 - Jim Benning, Portland Winter Hawks (28 goals, 111 assists), 1980-81.

I would hope he has a better NHL career than these fabulous WHL standouts. Let's at least have him play 1 NHL game before calling him the second best Flyers defenseman ever.

- jmatchett383

While I agree with you on counting our chickens before they hatch, I'd be interested in how many of those players where on over age seasons when they set those records.

PS two former flyers on that list I remember fondly because they were on the teams I really started to follow.

Must not have been clear.. sorry..

I was saying that Ghost on the FAR circle.. where Jake usually posts up. Jake at the top near circle where Ghost usually is.

I like Ghosts shot from the far side more than I do from the top. I also like Jakes ability to move the puck and shoot for a deflection more than I do Ghosts.

I think Ghost shooting from the top also limits Simmonds ability in front. His shot is just way to hard and high for a inside forward to really have a chance at deflecting.

I dont think it has to happen, or should happen, but I would be intrigued by what it would look like.

I wouldn't do it ever because Voracek is a forward and skating backwards isn't a consistent thing for forwards. We would leaving open scoring chances by putting a forward at the top of the umbrella.

I don't think there is a forward in the league who quarterbacks a power play.

- SuperSchennBros

There are several forwards that QB the PP. Giroux is one of them. I am assuming that you really just meant playing the point on the PP though

I want this:
1-Ivan Provorov

Well then I did understand what you were saying. I dont like that at all. With Jake back there is no issue.

Currently he is being replaced by Streit and what is now lacking is the playmaking ability from that side. Jake was better at receiving passes and making plays from that side. Streit just seems to attempt to one time or receive passes with varying success. He has played at the top before where Ghost currently is and I think with what they are trying to do between Ghost and Streit, they benefit from switching.

Ghost does have the better shot, but it still looks good from the circle on the right side, but where I think you would see the biggest benefit is just in playmaking ability there.

I'd say that a tougher, more physical Danny Briere would be Mark Recchi.

If Travis Konecny turns into Mark Recchi, I'd say that'd be OK.

- johndewar

If he turns out to be recchi like I'll be estatic. He should be in the hall of fame. 110+ pts with two teams, cups with two teams, 500+ goals, 1500+ career pts.

Obviously would be hard pressed to put up those types of numbers..but we're speaking strictly playing style and impact he'll have.
