That's opening a can of worms there for sure .......... there's been plenty of losing already... patience and losing are NOT what most in Buffalo will be willing to tolerate anymore............
- fastek

No can of worms at all . Plain and simple. Unreasonable expectations from a team this young . Do you want to be a contender for years like the Blackhawks ? There was lots of pain involved there. Or just be a flash in the pan ? Patience is a virtue . Too much crying at times in Buffalo . Folks will be whining about the parade route or that they cliched on the road when they hoist the cup in a few years.

Any person who earns income in the state of New York has to pay taxes in the state of New York without regard to where the person lives. That's all that clause does.

But wtf are you doing reading the Cba that closely?

- Der Kaiser

Ahh, I guess that makes more sense. It's just convoluted enough with the "provided, and notwithstanding" and the seemingly contradictory terms.

I was reading it because, a) there's some comedy gold in there like with the rental car compensation(mid-size only, the cheap bastards) and the economy class airfare for callups. And b) I think I read the tax part when I was looking up ROR's contract and how it's all signing bonus other than $1M per year and how it related to escrow, because I read a few articles about how players weren't thrilled that they had to pay escrow and probably lose some money at the end of the year so the players as a whole only get their allotted cut of HRR, and that ROR might not have to, because it's not salary.

We'll see. When they traded him he was already on a downward slide. I'm surprised they didn't see that and brought him back.

We needed to get to the floor and we needed another guy who could potentially actually score some goals, and perhaps the key part, was willing to play here knowing full well that they were shooting for 30th, so is it really that surprising that he kinda gave up?

I know you are far more knowledgable than TMGM . But he thinks he sees how to revive his career . When that fails they should call you in . A buy out at this time does not make sense as the cap hit really does not go down that much.
- Gordzilla

Not only that, it actually extends the misery for a bit.

Edit: Hatty.

So he gets to tank for 4 more years by himself?

I'm not saying it was a good idea, but this league still pays a premium for past performance. And I don't think anyone could have possibly foreseen the total and utter bed-poopting that happened this year. He was 2nd on the team last year, I understand it was a historically bad team, but he still managed to put up more than 40 points with who? Larsson as his center? Girgensons for a good portion too, but did they even play together? Most of last season has been erased from my memory.

All we can hope for is maybe the league will have another compliance buyout down the road.

Unreal how in denial the Leaf fans are. I'm actually embarrassed for this one from Garth's blog:

It was lame when Buffalo tanked, but Toronto doing it is awesome. Not sure why that's so difficult to understand.

Amerks 7, Springfield 3. Ruhwedel 2, O'dell 2, Sanguinetti 1, Guptill 1, Donovan1.
Nice end to end action. The opposite of the boring Sabres. They also picked up a new player that's 6'6".

- sippyd

FYI, that was Friday's game.

HBSL season ended by Mark Scheifle. Who'd have thought he'd put up 63 points ?

so you're saying that there are more important things to do than discussing 5v5 versus special teams and matt moulson's conditioning problems?

Well i mean.. special teams obviously don't matter....

as for Moulson's conditioning or lack thereof, didn't we agree that GMTM told him not to worry this year about on ice stuff and just make sure the kid was happy off the ice?

Edit: all that said i logged in and tried to keep up on things i just didn't have time to get into a full blown convo about it. But im always watching. like Jon Lovitz character in Little Nicky... always watching just usually in the tree with binoculars and a drink

he needs to learn that as he gets older, he can't eat the things he once did...jack can slam a large pizza and a dozen wings and not gain an ounce...Moulson, on the other hand...

And if that's all it is I'm glad we found out about it this year where while his lack of production sucked it didn't hurt the overall objective for the year, and if we have a plan to rectify it and next year he gets back to that 20ish+ goal scorer then all is well
