Yes, one unrealistic scenario, much like those who expected them to be playing for a playoff spot this year. Way too high of expectations.
One scenario which is realistic and shows growth on a good trajectory to contend the following couple of years.

- IonSabres

I admit, I expected them to be in the playoffs this year but I expected the following players to be a factor: Ennis, Bogosian, Pysyk, Moulson, Deslauriers.

They weren't and it resulted in this ........ so it is what it is.

And McCabe is only 22 and getting better every game. I don't get what more is expected from these rookies.
- sippyd

It's easy for me ...... I don't want to see step backs out of these youngsters. It's simply a huge Red Flag in my book. The AHL is littered with players who are great at that level but not at the next. McCabe is not taking a step back by the way. He's progressing. I wasn't referring to him.

Dmen take longer. My concern is Moulson. He's brain dead.

This is a talk board? We're not allowed to talk about getting Stamkos, until FA starts?? Are we GMs of the sabres and not allowed to talk about other teams' players?

Just hate giving Leaf trolls more material and make us look like fools . Much better to be pleasantly surprised if it happens. Much better than being the laughing stock of this site and hating the world if it does not.

TMGM has said they are working with him and he expects a different player by next year.

Not me and not realistic folk . Hoped for them to be where they are now. Patience is a virtue. Need to learn how to lose before you learn how to win.

I agree in general. Foligno is the biggest question in my mind...is he another Drew Stafford...going to turn it on since it is a contract year, then relax a bit and revert back to his old self?
- IonSabres

To be fair, stafford was supposed to be a medium sized power forward who could score, drafted in the middle of the first round. Scoring came in bunches, but his game was terribly inconsistent. Foligno was i believe a fourth rounder. I understand your complaint, but foligno being inconsistent is part of the deal.

That's opening a can of worms there for sure .......... there's been plenty of losing already... patience and losing are NOT what most in Buffalo will be willing to tolerate anymore............

We'll see. When they traded him he was already on a downward slide. I'm surprised they didn't see that and brought him back.

I'd still want a top 3 pick this year. Let them lose.

Something doesnt fit. The guys a below average skater that had to break his balls and go to the dirty areas to get where he is. He is useless without talent to get him the puck, but when he does he historically has produced. How does a guy like that not prepare himself properly? He has such a narrow margin for error as it is.

I saw your comments to the Leafs trolls in the Garth blog. I myself would have commented a few things about Toronto's tanking, but when you're dealing with people who are that far into denial, what's the point? Toronto this year has completely modeled our season from last year and than taken it one step further when they traded Kessel for non NHL ready players and picks. But yet it's a masterful rebuild for them and we're a disgrace. I really hope they end up picking 4th or later in this draft. I can't stand that city.

He was a sub par skater playing with one of the elite players in this league when they acquired him originally. Perhaps his conditioning isn't where it should be, but he's still going to be a liability for the rest of his contract. "He wanted to be here" might be the worst justification of $25 million and a no-trade clause for a guy on the wrong side of his prime I've ever heard, and that's saying something.

We moved out goalies that were standing on their heads and replaced them with guys that were the nhl equivalent of shooter tutors. not just one either. Thats the only difference that i see. It pains me to admit this, but the leafs front office moved out a ton of bad contracts and freed up room to make a strong play in free agency. The leafs are still behind us, i like our young center prospects much more than theirs, but they are only a year or two behind us.

We moved out Enroth and Neuvirh who were both UFA's and guys everyone in the league considered back up material. We got picks in return and Johnson and Lindback, two guys who played above expectations. If we moved Miller for an AHL goalie, than yeah I would agree, total tank move. And, I'm not saying we didn't tank, we did. I'm just saying Neuvirth's and Enroth's numbers for us last year are not that far away from what Lindback and Johnson has put up for us.

some inside info from people who've gotten it right on other occasions...personally, he'd be nuts to leave tampa, especially with no state or local taxes in florida...adds 5-10% to his take home pay

edit: opps...sorry....

did you mention Edmonton, jero?

*snicker, snicker*

nothing personal

I'm not too sure about the tax thing. I was reading the CBA and it said every player not a resident in Canada has to have NYS withholding. It's worded pretty vaguely. It says they have have to unless they don't.

(b) Withholding Of New York State Taxes. Each Club shall deduct and withhold New York State personal income tax from every Players' compensation as required by law, notwithstanding, in the case of New York State nonresidents, the policy of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance that allows Clubs to file information reports in lieu of withholding New York State taxes from nonresident Players' compensation; provided, however, that no New York withholding shall be required in the case of any Player who is exempt from such withholding under New York law on account of his Canadian tax status. Each Club shall remit withheld amounts to New York State and provide Players with withholding statements in accordance with New York State requirements.

Any person who earns income in the state of New York has to pay taxes in the state of New York without regard to where the person lives. That's all that clause does.

But wtf are you doing reading the Cba that closely?

Nice end to end action. The opposite of the boring Sabres. They also picked up a new player that's 6'6".

I know you are far more knowledgable than TMGM . But he thinks he sees how to revive his career . When that fails they should call you in . A buy out at this time does not make sense as the cap hit really does not go down that much.
