He's gonna be a UFA, so I'm sure we could make a play for him
Idk if we should though
I think it was WGR that I was listening to and they were talking about how most of his scoring is on the PP, and he's pretty ineffective 5 on 5
He's a speedy player, but considering we'd prob have to overpay for him, it prob wouldn't be a good signing for us

- jdfitz77

Well I'm just of the mindset that we trade our non-top 3 draft pick for a stud dman, provided there is a dance partner, leaving us to find a top 6 forward via trade as well or FA. I know people on this board have talked about Anaheim defencemen, but I don't think Fowler is the answer. Lindholm would probably be a heavy price. The only reason I see a slight chance the can part with him is because they are stacked in terms of D prospects; Theodore, Larsson, Montour, etc.

Outside of Lindholm, they have vatanen who needs to sign. They need to make room for one of them. If we get #4 overall, with their poor depth in LW prospects, we could dangle that and possibly girgs for Lindholm, if they are confident in their bluechip LHD prospects. Maybe that could persuade them into handing him over, and they can keep vatanen. Bring up theodore next season. And that is still an outside chance.

If we pick 4th & somehow can't trade for a good young defenseman...
We can always just pick Chychrun
He could be the answer to who we pair w Risto for the next 10yrs or so

Idk if we get him,
But I think it's pretty well known that Murray is gonna go after Stamkos

If we don't get him...
Idk what the answer at forward is
I don't like overpaying for Boeddeker though
He might not even be a "top6" guy on a good team
Maybe Fasching can be that guy for us eventually

I also think defense has to be a top priority in the off season. With youngish talent being targeted. It's a nice change that other GMs know Murray is ready to wheel and deal.

Relatedly, I'm very grateful that the Oilers passed on Risto in order to draft Nurse. Risto's 37 points to Nurse's 8 makes me happy.

Boedker is not great, but we need guys who can fly like him. His speed alone is worth 4 mil. I don't think he gets close to 6

He'll get the Cody Franson treatment if he's looking for 6....

Yeah, he's not my first pick, but he seems like a decent option. I'd like to hope someone already in the system really shines at training camp. Outside of fasching and bailey. Maybe one of the swedes (possler/olofsson)

I think id rather go after a guy like Kreider
Or maybe even Tom Wilson from the Caps

Boedker is kinda one dimensional
I don't wanna pay for just his speed

I don't necessarily wanna wait either...
But we can't force a team to trade us a partner for Risto
We might have to draft him

Hopefully we can make the trade, AND draft a top3 forward

Yes please!

In that scenario I wouldn't be upset missing out on Stamkos.

IMO Kreider is too much like Kane. Not an ideal wing for Eichel

Well, outside of the top 3, I keep hearing more good things about this Dubois kid. Could beat out Tkachuk from rumblings going around. I'll go youtubing real quick...

His ideal winger is less about talent and more about style. Eichel will make his winger better only if he has the opportunity to do so. He needs a "puck off the stick as soon as it's on it" player instead of another puck hog.

I agree he's like Kane, except he doesn't take 30 shots a game
That's the part that makes Kane & Eichel a bad fit

Kreider has the speed to keep up with Jack, & the style of play to create space & attack the net

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not a Boedker fan
I think he's ok...
But I like Ennis better

Boedker just has the speed to keep up. There are some good options, but not necessarily with the speed necessary. I can't wait to see what Ennis can do back healthy, but I think he and Boedker are very different players in a certain way.

Are those who don't want Stamkos in Buffalo the minority here? Just don't see how it adds up in the future cap-wise honestly.

I don't spend much time watching the Coyotes, so my opinion of Boedker is based off the small sample size I've seen
He just seems one dimensional to me
And he seems to put up most of his stats on the PP
Maybe that changes of he's on a good team, but he does have guys around him that can play
Idk... I just think the deal he'll command as a UFA would be a mistake for us

Ennis has some feistiness to his game to go with his speed & offensive ability
He's prob been our best player for a couple years now, so I'd like to see what he can do on Eichel's wing when he gets back

I think I'd rather not sign any UFA forward if we can't get Stamkos

There are a lot of ways I don't see it adding up.
