Bad part if it is, we will have to watch the Oilers or the Leafs get the 1st pick in the draft, in Buffalo no less.
- SABRES 89

We are actually trying to win games at this point while the Leafs are clearly playing for the pick and as of today we are 3 points out from the bottom 5....might be a stretch but im hoping we arent in the lotto convo by the time the season ends

Our GM is giving away our first round pick for a dud. We could have signed any slug better than him .He is giving poop away to his uncle. He is still on Ottawa's payroll. We are going to pay for it . We could have had Colin White. Hard hat really posted some classics . wish I could remember them.

Any more ?

There was so much clamoring for Ramo and Hiller, and I think people even praised Ortio

I was interested in Ramo... i admit

Oilers will be the 8th seed at the end ............ McLellen's tirade and the dumping of Shultz is paying off. They will play well the rest of the year IMO.

If you guys can land in the 4-5 spot, it would be perfect for you to get the top d-man in the draft (rather than winning the lottery and being "forced" to take yet another forward)

Subaru dollar for dollar makes the best cars on the market. I'd love a WRX or STI but I can't get past "I'm 29, work in IT, live at my moms and drive this car like a complete (frank)ing tool" mystique.

I think it boils down to this...if we get that #1 pick trade it for a top pairing RHD....in fact I think most of us just want to see our 1st rounder traded for help now period....we dont need another development project (drafting a young Dman)...what do the Sabres do with their first rounder? draft a guy or trade it?

It all depends on where they are selecting.

1-4 they draft a forward 1-3 for sure they are drafting one.

4-8 they should trade it

I think a big hope among fans is they win the #2 or 3 spot because the team needs help on the wings more than C (not that getting Matthews would be the end of the world, but would be Detroit Lions-esque when they kept drafting WRs).

If outside the top 4 (meaning Matthews and the "big 3" wingers are gone), people here have expressed wanting to trade it for a top line d-man.

You think they pass on Tkachuk if they get the 4 spot?

If it's top5, we probably use the pick

An Eichel-Matthews 1-2 punch would be pretty deadly....that being said I could see you guys drafting a winger to play with Eichel it just seems to make the most sense....reading here through out the year a big complaint seems to be getting a guy to play with Eichel....can solve that at the draft

I"ve heard some analysts say that they would take Chychrun or Jeoluvi over Tkachuk but its too early with playoffs and WJC's still coming up.

I think it's a huge deal. Personally I'd rather get that stud winger to play with Eichel for the next 10+ years now (a winger who will likely be in the NHL by the start of the 17/18 season at the latest) rather than a d-man that might take longer.

Defense/goals allowed don't seem to be as big an issue with the team as scoring, so it's where I'd address things first, if in the optimal spot.

We will have our best prospect winger Hudson Fasching here to end the season as well. Rugged 2 way physical forward for Minnesota Gophers right now. Leads the team in points and is a PPG+ player.

Folks seem to think that he won't need an AHL seasoning. He is a top 6 player no doubt. Plus the return of Ennis later this year or next year too.

I'm no prospect kind of guy where I will even pretend to know anything about them, but IMO (as I just posted a minute ago in a different reply) the bigger need is offense now.

Ristolainen, McCabe are 2 solid bodies on the back end, hopefully Pysyk "returns" to the steady guy many fell in love with, and then fill in the rest. Of course a top end guy would be great, but I think that's a very serviceable defense with higher-end scoring in front of them.

I think it is a win win right now though....

Either we get a top winger to put in our top 6, we draft a stud young d-man who will be ready when guys like Gorges/Franson are gone in a year or two, OR we can trade the pick to get a more ready player.

The way TM snickered and smiled when he said he had a lot of talks with GMs about deals to make but just not at this time. Makes me firmly believe he has an ace up his sleeve for the draft. A big move.

I agree that it just makes to draft a guy for Eichel to play with and some quality guys to be had for sure....at least you guys know that you have a solid guy in Eichel to build a team around for years to come...he is going to be a great player

I don't think he is going 4... Matthews, the Fins, and Chychryn (sp?) will go before him.

Well, it's not like you guys didn't already have Hall as a very good player to build around, and Eberle as a vet who has done well.

Thy might. I have read where some say he's ready others say he isn't. He isn't guaranteed to be a top 5 pick. But there is still lots of hockey to be played.

I would prefer a top 3 pick just to be sure.
