He isn't coming back. If you held out this long you have to go full bore you why did you do it in the first place.

Also Yzerman's statement is more of a "Hey, we said he could come back" type statement. Putting the onus on the player so if he doesn't come back, which yzerman is fully aware of, it's drouins fault.

Kind of like the eagles saying they want Bradford and made offers knowing full well the offers were probably low but if Bradford goes somewhere else the eagles can say they tried.

Exactly. IMO bradford won't be an eagle after that report leaked

I agree that he won't come back, but I think he should. Especially if Yzerman is trying to show who's in driver seat by oh you can come back attempt to make Drouin look bad. I just think he's not doing himself any good just training when he's 20 and should be getting his best experience from on the ice in games

A few articles out there, but apparently he had cancer in 2014 and subsequently beat it. But still a few more talk about the recurrence of it. I thought Bill mentioned it in the past, but can't find it. Here's a link talking about how the team visited his home in CA during a west-coast trip:

I thought it was pretty public.

I think there was something in beginning of the year because first year he missed the first home game.

I think they mentioned something about an illness but never got into any specifics

“He got a lower body injury. I’ll never substantiate or answer those questions because I don’t want you guys to know or I’d just come right out and tell ya. That’s not you guys. That’s the other team. I don’t want the enemy to know.”

God bless you, Ron Hextall.

And what happens if he comes back and suffers an ACL injury by chance in Syracuse? He's gone this far. It might look bad but plenty of teams will try to buy low on him and hope to have a very motivated Drouin.

Wayne Simmonds needs 7 goals in 20 games to achieve the 30 goal mark.

Brayden Schenn needs 9 goals in 20 games to achieve the 30 goal mark.

Can either player do this assuming neither gets hurt?

Going to be close.

I am just glad to see Schenn start to be the player we hoped for. His confidence is sky high.

I think both have a shot. It would be awesome if they can do that.

I think Sons of Penn was the site saying we should trade Schenn for Drouin.

If Brayden Schenn scores 30, he hops on to an Evander Kane level. He gets that 30 goals under his belt. Value goes up. We have no idea if he'll ever do it again but the capability is in the stats.

Brayden Schenn has a 4 game hat trick streak and gets to 30 goals

Can they? Sure.
Will they? I doubt it, but I'd say Simmonds would be more likely and not only because he's closer to the mark right now.

Probably just become fully corporately operated, like the Leafs.

I expect Schenn to do it. He might not but if we don't make the playoffs, this might be something else to cling on to.

Both can. Especially if they are as motivated as they looked last night.

Brayden could have had at least 5 or 6 goals with some luck. The puck seemed to be following him. I swear he got robbed of the fourth last night from the angle we saw that play.

I think Schenn has the better chance as well. It just seems like he's riding a wave right now. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling he's going to be on a tear the rest of the way.

I kinda want him to stop scoring if we arent going to make the playoffs haha...just more $$ he is adding with each goal.

the #fancystats shows he is getting a bit lucky right now...but a full season of playing like he has the last month or so will lead to a 30 goal season

I think our playoff hopes depend on my question on whether or not they can score 30 each. Schenn himself needs a new deal. I feel there is serious incentive.

I have heard that Snider is dealing with cancer treatment. He's been in California, where he actually resides, and hasn't made many-if any-trips to Philly during this season. It's been discussed and mentioned a little bit before Jim Watson's speech last night, but it really made a lot of folks take notice. Given Snider's age, any major illness is obviously cause for concern.

We all have to be grateful for the gift that Ed Snider gave us 50 years ago. For all his faults, they are faults born out of a desire to win. He not only gave us the Flyers, he gave us a family. The foundation he laid, the organization he built and maintained, despite the Cup drought, has been as close to a gold standard as exists in sports.

Snider built the team, his own buildings, a fanbase and grew the sport in the Delaware Valley. His fingerprints are all over everything the organization has done over the past 5 decades. Hopefully he gets through his current issues and gets to see a third Flyers Stanley Cup

With the roll that b schenn is on I'd hope we could get him locked in for 4 years under 4.5 mil. He's showing enough to deserve it, improving every year

I don't.

He'll get paid fairly no matter what happens.

I want him to have as much confidence even if it is going into an offseason. Scoring 30 would show he can play at that level and be something to really build on next season as they continue to step forward.
