Haven't posted in a while.

It's widely assumed his son would take over his partial ownership. Though he will never be the same man his father was. That means the organization will really be in Holmgren (gulp) and hextall hands.

Schenn is interesting with that he's a rfa. He'd probably get in arbitration around 3 to 3.5 million. Do they give him a coots extension with term but lower salary ? Anything 4.5 or under seems like a steal to me.

No to lucic. Top 6 of giroux jake simmonds Schenn coots konecky next year works just fine for me. Kubel can join the bottom 6 at some point after some pro time with phantoms. Provorov or Morin have a shot at third pairing nhl. Doubt both.

A little aside on the Flyers penalty killing difficulties this season.

I think some folks are giving Lappy a bad rap for their struggles on the PK this year. To me, the PK and protecting a lead at the end of a game is where their lack of quality top pair Dmen stands out. There is absolutely nothing that any coach can do that is going to turn Michael Del Zotto into the savvy defensive warrior that Kimmo Timonen was. Nor is a coach going to magically grant Nick Schultz or Gudas the strong skating stride and huge reach of a Braydon Coburn.

The PK was also bad in the 39 games Coburn played for the Flyers last season, though.

So maybe giving guys like VdV and this year White major minutes on the PK has more to do with it than missing Coburn.

I know that we as people want to know everything, but does it matter? Whether or not Voracek misses a week or a month, does it matter if we know it? I'm sure the Flyers know it, and I don't see how it helps them win if the other team can pre-plan for who's in and/or out.

Some people don't realize that if I know you have a hurting foot or hand, I will use that knowledge to try and win. Guy with bad hand I might get a slash or two in when I can. Bad foot I might hack it a couple times.

People seem to think everyone plays honest.

Tough to say right now. Can Konecny earn a top 6 spot? They also need to resolve the Schenn contract.

I think Lucic is going to get something like 6-7 million. I would still prefer to make a play for Stamkos if he makes it to FA.

- J35Bacher

Yzerman is really playing with fire IMO. He keeps Stamkos with the hope that they can make a run this playoffs and re sign him. He doesn't deal Drouin to solidify his team for a run this year. If things go south this offseason, the team's window could close very fast here.

I think this has been the case for Medvedev for some time. His random scratches at times where we could use him. I think he's been nursing an injury and we don't want to announce for the same reason of the enemy knowing what to go for

Johansson got $3.75m in arbitration after scoring 47 points in 82 games. Schenn is on pace for 57 in 80 games.

Thanks Bill. Ok #10 who let you out of the box...lol. I am starting to like Baby Schenn again. If he can consistently put up numbers around 30 goals a season, then he's a keeper in my book. He isn't going to be a J. Benn, but he does have size, and when he puts forth an effort he is strong with the puck, as we witnessed last night.
At this point in time, I would dump Umby, White, and Read. Although, Read has picked up his game lately, he can be replaced by Weal once he is all healed up. White can be replaced by CMcD. Scotty L, and Cuz make good line-mates, but I don't know who we might bring up next season in the forward department. I guess this up coming draft, we can go after some wingers. I still like Gagner, and he brings an effort every game. He may not score like expected, but he does a lot of things right in my opinion. How are the forwards progressing in LHV?
On the D side of things, I would keep MDZ, Ghost, and Gudas. The rest can be dumped if possible. I would also keep Neuvy, and if we dump Mason, then we can bring up Stolarz.
We almost let last night's game slip away. The team needs to figure out how to keep the foot on the gas, and to quit sitting back when times get tough, or when they seem too easy. Two sloppy play goals, and one goal that Neuvy was responsible for. The PK really needs some help. CMcD would be a good PK forward, and might take some pressure off of VDV, and Bellz.

I think, more than anything, they missed Timonen. Much as guys like Giroux and Ghost QB a powerplay, he did the same for the PK

So I know I am getting ahead of myself, but I feel the Flyers need another solid top 6 forward. How much is Lucic going to demand on the open market. Having him and Simmonds on the roster make like a living hell for opponents to deal with.
- flyers2001

I can't stand Lucic so that would be a bit hellish for me as a fan.

With all the young defenseman on the way, I just want a good defensive assistant coach that is good at developing young talent, whoever that is

I think he's standing his ground, as he should. I didn't realize this, but he even stated that Drouin can come back to Syracuse at anytime and that it's his call to return there or not. I understand Drouin at first held out w his agent to prevent injury if offer on table, but now deadline is over he should just suck it up, play, and improve his image for the remainder of the year.

but we have a vision set out a couple years ago and we’re not deviating from it. Does it mean you adjust? Of course you adjust you have to adjust everything doesn't go the way that you planned for it to go.

The answer is no...I think people have this idea in their heads like if we find out Voracek has a bone bruise we will be like OMG 2 weeks for that!?!? They are going to try to come back as soon as possible and they hopefully will play if they are able (i.e. Read) We don't need to question them. I think a fair compromise would be like an end of season report on all the poop people had to make people happy.

Why? I think he has made his case and the bridge is burned...if you essentially quit a job you dont go back to it so other companies see you are still working.

Teams know what kind of potential he has and that wont change. The only side it hurts is the TBL. Drouin coming back and playing well will only increase their return. Drouin probably has no interest in what the lightning can get for him. I can maybe see the draft bringing in a better return (might be able to get a better roster player), but if he isnt traded then...there's nothing for the lightning to gain

That's the trouble with this new generation of players. Back in the olden days players respected each other.

I have heard that Snider is dealing with cancer treatment. He's been in California, where he actually resides, and hasn't made many-if any-trips to Philly during this season. It's been discussed and mentioned a little bit before Jim Watson's speech last night, but it really made a lot of folks take notice. Given Snider's age, any major illness is obviously cause for concern.

We all have to be grateful for the gift that Ed Snider gave us 50 years ago. For all his faults, they are faults born out of a desire to win. He not only gave us the Flyers, he gave us a family. The foundation he laid, the organization he built and maintained, despite the Cup drought, has been as close to a gold standard as exists in sports.

Snider built the team, his own buildings, a fanbase and grew the sport in the Delaware Valley. His fingerprints are all over everything the organization has done over the past 5 decades. Hopefully he gets through his current issues and gets to see a third Flyers Stanley Cup

I think a small part of not trading him was also to send a message as to who is in the driver's seat.

He isn't coming back. If you held out this long you have to go full bore you why did you do it in the first place.

Also Yzerman's statement is more of a "Hey, we said he could come back" type statement. Putting the onus on the player so if he doesn't come back, which yzerman is fully aware of, it's drouins fault.

Kind of like the eagles saying they want Bradford and made offers knowing full well the offers were probably low but if Bradford goes somewhere else the eagles can say they tried.

I thought it was pretty public.

I think there was something in beginning of the year because first year he missed the first home game.

I like this "next man up" thing they got going. Can you imagine if G or Jake got hurt in November as opposed to now? 80% of this board would jump off the Ben Franklin.

Great to see this team string some wins together when they have had both of them out of the lineup. I still feel they need to go on a tear winning a bunch at home while trying to steal points on the road.

First I've heard of it and he didn't present it as fact.
