We traded a 4th for the rights to Ehrhoff and Stamkos is in a much higher class than Ehrhoff was. You definitely trade for his rights to get exclusive time with him to work out a deal. If you can't sign him, trade his rights again to the next suitor. That's how Ehrhoff came here. I don't think this year's 1st, but anything else is worth it. Even next year's 1st.

DARCY traded a fourth for rights to talk to some guy we overpaid for and later bought out.
GMTM will wait for free agency, make his offer, and if Stamkos says "no" we move on.
This aint middle school lunch line.
Our offer isn't going to change weather we're the first to present it or the seventh.
I'd love any of you "trade for his rights" guys to concisely explain to me what changes weather you're the first team to offer him a deal, the third team to offer him a deal, the seventh team, etc….
He's going to listen to them all. and then he's going to make his decision.
Acting like being first in line makes any difference is so juvenile its beyond comprehension. Like the guy is going to just accept the first offer he hears because he just can't deal with hearing any more offers…..

Draft a Finn, sign Stamkos.

Finn-Stamkos-Eichel
Kane-ROR-Reinhart
Foligno-Larsson-Girgensons-Ennis

Players on that 3rd line are gonna have to be shipped out for defense help I'd presume but it's starting to look mighty good.

Could very well be the case.

I will not be happy at all if we trade our first round pick to negotiate with him. I dont care about making a splash at the draft. I care about the betterment of the team and it doesnt begin and end with stamkos. If he wants to come here he will, and i want it to be in addition to our 1st round pick this year.

There's no chance that'll happen
It's just 39 over exaggerating

I would draft whoever we are lucky to take with our first round pick, and if we are able to sign him i would absolutely be willing to part with him for that Dman.

I would part with anyone not named eichel, oreilly, or risto to get a dman here if we are able to land stamkos.

Sign yandle while youre at it too

Damn I'm already getting excited for next year

Or use Fasching to trade for that defenseman
I think he's a more valuable trade chip right now than guys like Ennis & Girgensons whose value has slipped after down seasons

It's good to have you back I missed you

- gerbe75pts

Quack! Quack!
Hahaha

It's prob better to ease the Fins in a bit
For whatever reason, it seems to take them time to adjust to the NHL game
Barkov was "ready" too
I'd look as his stats to project what we could expect out of Laine or Puljujarvi
Start on the 3rd line maybe, with some PP time & go from there

Plus,
His agent will know what teams are interested ahead of time
I just hope he picks us

Eberle & mcdavid have played so well together that I doubt they'll move him
It will be interesting to see what the Oilers do though
A lot will depend on where they pick

He's a perfect 3/4 for the team. Pick moving defenseman who can skate well.

I feel like our bottom 6 are all fourth liners. We have to pick the best 3, make them our 4th line, and build an entire 3rd line out of thats left.
Moulson and Ennis on the 3rd line could do some damage next year with the right center.
I'm all about letting Fasching develop in Rochester.
I personally don't want to let that kid go.

Totally! His agent is going to make bank off his next contract. He's either going to push him to take as much money as he can, or to go to a team that can compete financially but still can surround him with talent. Those are the only two scenarios!

I don't necessarily want to trade Fasching either
But we've gotta be realistic
What's a team like the Ducks gonna want from us?
Girgensons, who forgot how to score goals?
Ennis, who has a pretty sizable contract, coming off a bad season & major concussion?

If I were another team, I'd only be interested in those guys at a discount
And that's not gonna get us a partner for Risto

I've said all along I thought McCabe would end up being Ristolainen's partner eventually

I've loved that pick from the 1st time I watched him play

Eh skip Eberle and Boedker, I'd be ok with Lucic. I saw keep can and trade him in his last year. Hopefully Fasching might be ready by then.

If we draft top 3 and sign Stamkos I say offer up any combination of Fasching, Girgensons, Pysyk, Ennis, Foligno, 2017 first and see what it can pull.

Foligno prob has little value...
And I just don't think "selling low" on those other guys is a good idea

maybe that 2017 1st...
We also have two 2017 2nds, maybe another depending on how the mcginn trade plays out
I'd try to use those 2nds
We also have a bunch of 3rds this year & next
And a bunch of mid-range prospects who might be of interest...
Carrier, Karabacek, Estephan, Malone, Cornel, etc
I'd even part with Hurley if it meant we keep our 1st

Sabres were rumoured to be interested in Lindholm but ive heard people with the ducks think he could be the next Duncan Keith for them. I think in the offseason talks will start with the rfa's and potentially shift over to fowler. Perhaps Ennis, Girgensons, Pysyk for fowler and a cap dump like stoner or souray ?

We're gonna run out of room, people are gonna have to be moved. We'll have Foligno, Larsson, Girgensons, Ennis, Delorean, Moulson, Gionta filling out bottom 6. That's alot of money for a bottom 6.

Kreider is a guy I'd like to see us target
Big, fast, strong in areas u need to be come playoff time
We've got lots of picks if the Rangers are interested
He'd be a great fit with Eichel & Stamkos

Flip Eichel and the Finn(preferably Laine) Eichel seems to be more comfortable on his off wing when he plays on the wing. He seems very Ovechkinesque when he uncorks his slapper from the top of the circle. The one goal he scored from there on the PP earlier in the year. He's taken some nice shots from there too. Tell me this doesn't remind you of Ovechkin...

That's too much to give up
