Never heard this rule before?? Doesn't make sense, for instance, could he be traded to PHI now (non playoffs right now), or not as they still could make the playoffs. Maybe they can trade him after the playoffs starts to a non playoff team

Only significance of trade deadline is that players traded after can't play in playoffs that year.

Prince can't crack ottawa's lineup, pirri managed himself to get moved from chicago and florida and if it was next years deadline I'm sure we would of moved on it for a 5th. We still need to lose and get top 3 pick this year. McGinn garnering a 2nd or 3rd would of made this deadline a successful day. The late round picks we would have gotten for Johnson and Legwand odds are would not be detrimental to the future success of the franchise. Johnson can continue to back Lehner while Ullmark gets starts at Roch. Legwand can continue to mentor Eichel till the end of the year.
