damn quotes...personally if all you are getting is a 3rd for Raffl, I rather keep him and try to re-sign him. Gagner I would take whatever you can get because he most likely isn't in their plans anyway.

worse than the 03-04 Pens?
- five4fighting10

Ha! Man, they were awful, weren't they? IIRC, when they moved Kovalev, it was like they should've been contracted

The Ghost-is-fixing-AMac theory would be more plausible if MacDonald have didn't overall good possession numbers last season outside of the time he spent with Grossmann. He could be playing with Streit or Gudas right now and be doing just as well.

However, I think a Schultz-Mac pairing would be bad in much the same way Grossmann-MacDonald was bad.

- Feanor

Never bought that too much personally. He didn't play with Grossmann substantially more than anyone else. He really had no partner: 200 min with Grossmann, 120-140 with some others like Streit, Schenn, MDZ, Cola. He balanced out as a break even, low event, heavily sheltered player. Which is what he is -- an OK third pairing guy who can eat minutes if he absolutely must. But he has to be played with someone aggressive or he will get shelled playing his no doubles defense.

Even apart from Grossmann, his stats given his usage were never "good" in my mind. Just OK. Hovering around average. Compare his overall season to Manning's this year and, even apart from Grossmann, it isn't world's better. There are similarities. I think he can do a tad better than that going forward, but in a vacuum he's still a 5/6 guy to Manning's 6/7. The Grand Canyon-like cost differential doesn't help, but it's a moot point.

EDIT: just to add, I think playing with Cola helped lift his stats as much as Grossmann sank them. Need further proof? Cola was Manning's partner for most of last year. Check HIS stats with him. Just as good as AMac's.

Hey, went to the game today, so I wasn't around here much today.

Did we trade everyone for all of the other ones?

Even if the flyers don't get in I just want to see the pens miss after getting kessel. That would be enjoyable
- funmaster18

I want to see them get in and knocked out in the first round since the first rounder is lottery protected

Can Crosby need double wrist surgery afterwards? That'd be swell.

Montreal's been a bit of a dumpster fire, but man, Alex Galchenyuk is starting to look like a beast at center

Everyone in Montreal thinks so, except Therien who all but refuses to play him at center or with good linemates.

Hextall set the price as two 2nd rounders, I'd be surprised if Raffl moves.

I'm okay with Raffl staying. He is a useful third line forward who can slide up the line-up for a stretch because of injury. He's a good insurance policy if Konency struggles during the season (assuming he makes the Flyers) and can slide into a 3rd line center role if the Cousins experiment doesn't work out. I'm assuming Laughton will stay at wing. He looks like Eric Wellwood with better shooting ability.

that doesn't happen often. Last I can remember is Vermette.

as a GM I would look to sell but as a player I would be aggravated if the team went in sale mode when we were 3-5 points out

Hudler put up like 130 points over the last two seasons. The asking price for Raffl needs to come down. Way down.

One is an RFA who they want to resign and one is a UFA rental.
Different values to the teams.

They want to keep raffl fine but it better not be anymore than 1.5 or 1.75 per the guy can skate and can bang a little bit. The guy has rocks for hands and the coach doesn't trust him for special teams so why am I giving much a crap about him
