I don't why tampa would do this. If they werent going to the playoffs it would make sense. But if they wait until after the deadline, anyone they acquire for him, wouldn't he able to play in the playoffs.

It might be that nobody is willing to give up an impact player (that's in the NHL already). Their best bet if they want value is probably picks/prosects. Otherwise they may have to take a hit on the asking price to get something done by 3PM Monday.

Well I'll say their stats are so close that he isn't being outplayed, he's being matched. Which looks more to a point of how the other guy has been than suggesting Kasdorf has been bad. I know nothing of the guy, but to say he's overrated and the other guy is good when they have the same numbers, age or not and especially at goaltender, is a bit out there.

But your point is seen, the other guy is doing well.

- Zschalberg

COMPLETELY DISAGREE

Age has a TON to do with it
A redshirt senior, should definitely be significantly outplaying a true freshman
That a kid who just got outta high school can hang with a guy in his 5th year should tell u that either Kasdorf is overrated, or the super frosh is very talented
IMO,
It's a combo of both

Also, to my point of Kasdorf being overrated...
This is his 1st good season
RPI wanted to replace him as the starter, but the guy they thought was coming chose to go to Canadian Juniors instead

What's his price? A 2nd, Guhle/Borgen, and Baptiste? Is that too much? Too little? I don't know what he's worth really.

Yeah, but if they both had stats of .890 and 3.00 I'd agree that they're both doing equal and that means the older guy is worse. But they're both, as far as the stats look, playing out of their minds. So, yeah, the younger guy is BETTER. That doesn't make the older guy bad. That's like saying McDavid is better than Eichel so Eichel must be terrible. One can be good and the other still be better.

I always wanted to see a team try to make a " can't refuse trade" to a rival after the deadline. Just so a team could screw up their rival's playoff chances by giving them a player they cannot use. But couldn't pass on.

Even if you are right... and say you are... he is playing GREAT hockey right now. Very highly rated in many categories for goalies. Higher than Cal Peterson in all categories as well.

Hackett has played admirably yes.. But he hasn't even played since December 12th. he played against Harvard, yale, Dartmouth, and Clarkson earlier so he has played some tougher games but C'mon man..

Okay.... Kasdorf is top 20 in GAA in college of goalies who have played 33% of team's games and is top 3 in SV% if I remember right.
- JVince11

And?

Are the top20 NCAA goalies you're talking about gonna make the NHL?
Nope

The Freshman who's putting up similar stats might though!

Let me put it this way...
Say Bailey makes the Sabres next year, and he & Foligno both score 15goals...
Who are u gonna be more excited about?

The guys who's finally producing...
Or the rookie who came in & did it right away?

When Kasdorf was a freshman he went 14-5-2 with a 1.62 GAA and a .935 S%

Okay, dude, whatever. No one cares about Kasdorf anyways. He's overrated and he'll never amount to anything in life and should have 50 shutouts a season because he's so damn old.

Ya happy?

Did I say ANYWHERE that Kasdorf was "bad?"

I said "overrated"
When a redshirt senior FINALLY had a good season, it doesn't mean he's the real deal
Possible?
Sure
But way more likely that he amounts to nothing

There's a reason RPI was trying to replace him before this season started

Nice season... Yep!
He has been very good
But I just don't see it translating past this level
He won't get 5 years in the AHL to finally post good stats

And who is overrating him? Where did anyone say he's an NHL goaltender? The only thing anyone here has said about him is he's played well. Even when we're talking goalies he's below Ullmark and Petersen on the depth list and maybe even Johanson or whatever his name is. So this is all a moot point. He was thrown into the Kane deal as a "Maybe he pans out, if not, whatever" piece.

Maybe? I really have no idea what the ask price or value is anymore. The only thing that's ever been reported is that he wants out and there are a lot of interested parties (but obviously not interested enough to give up whatever Tampa was asking for).

DUDE YOU ARE WRONG!!!

Kasdorf as a FRESHMAN was 14-5-2 with a 1.62 GAA and .935 SV%

He had a major shoulder injury his sophmore year then had a down year his Junior year playing again. Now playing a very good Senior year. What is your problem!?

STOP!!!

He was promising, but then just fell apart...
Idk why?
Maybe he had some personal stuff & he's finally gotten it straightened out?
Not sure

I just think any expectations for him are overrated bc
1) a much younger kid is producing on his level
2) the team wanted to replace him as the starter befor this season started

We all know predicting how goalies will turn out is basically guesswork at best
But I feel those 2 reasons I listed are a big cause for tempering any expectations for hi future

I'm not saying he sucks
Just that ppl are prob getting too excited about what he'll ever become

Feel like Tampa is in the position of strength where they can wait to see if something really knocks their socks off. They aren't even paying him now and the only reason they have to trade him is that his asking price should be falling with him not playing and his attitude.

If the situation gets bad enough could the agent not appeal to have the contract terminated? If so they'd be left with nothing.

Not to mention the fact that RPI was not a good team his sophomore and junior years.

He was just a throw in for that Kane deal but he could turn out to be a very good piece

So who's going for what by the deadline?

I'm calling Ocho Not Cinco to SJ for a 4th, McGinn to Florida for a 2nd and a 4th next year and (the shot in the dark) Foligno and a 3rd goes to the Preds for a Jack Dougherty. What do you all think?

- RhinoFan

I'll play along.

McGinn to LA for a '17 2nd and Andy Andreoff.
Hanging Chad Johnson to SJ for Alex Stalock and a '16 4th (NYR)
Foligno and 4th acquired in Johnson trade to Florida for their '17 3rd and Dylan Olsen.
Legwand to St. Louis for their '17 4th.
(for 365), Patrick Wiercioch and Shane Prince to Buffalo for '16 3rd (DAL), '17 4th and William Carrier.

Cheers!

Edit-Purcell will be going to Kings so that will rule out a McGinn move there.

I don't think it would make Foligno overrated, I think it would mean that both are playing well and Bailey has a higher ceiling.

So with that, both goalies are playing well yet Hackett might have the higher ceiling. Just how I read into it.

He plays for RPI a team that was god awful last year and not very good the year before, and he stole a playoff round win last year when they had no business beating Clarkson
