I'd trade any player, Giroux, Ghost, and Provorov included, where we got the best player in the deal (age and salary taken into account). - jmatchett383
OF THE PLAYERS WE WOULD REALISTiCALLY TRADE...i would trade Schenn without hesitation in a deal where we traded him + something for something better than trade him for pieces. Meaning, some who would trade him might want a prospect or two + high picks, whereas I wouldn't. |

I doubt it. If his contract is up this year itll be a bridge deal for two years around 2.5 mil. If he expires after next year and has similair numbers and production then yes he gets a bigger salary. $0 games is hardly enough time to give him a large contract. Like him and all but he needs to show he can do it all season for a huge increase. - jmdodgeser4
A long term deal is more likely in my opinion, and could happen as early as July. That's what Dallas did with Klingberg.

If you bridge Ghost you could end up in the situation Montreal had with Subban. |

I think the only other thing worth noting is that Maatta had a terrific first year. I will happily pay Ghost more if he continues the trend that he is on rather than run into the luck and trouble that Maatta has - YuenglingJagr
Ghost had his first year cut short by injury, where as Maata was given a spot based on merit instead of being returned to juniors. In his first "full" year, Ghost has surpassed Maata's best year so far. Unless Ghost falls off a cliff/is injured significantly, I don't see it. |

I wasn't a big fan of that deal, giving a long-term deal to a guy with fewer than 100 career games.
I was wrong. I agree though, I'd do an extension this off-season. If they can get him for less than $4M per, I say go for it. |

I think we need to look for guys who arent a liability most of the time they are on the ice. White isnt the biggest culprit on the team but we have to improve somewhere or should we just accept being a below average team (yes its better recently) - YuenglingJagr
Well it depends what you, fans and management consider a liability. I've been ripping on Gudas lately and many think it's because Luke Schenn was traded. To me it's never been a Gudas vs. Schenn situation. If I had my way they'd both be here for their physical play and right handed shot. Also add the fact that I hate that Manning is on the team at all. To me, Brandon Manning is a liability. In my opinion when Gudas makes a dirty play, he is a liability. When Schenn would make a bad read, he was a liability. It all depends on what Gudas and what Schenn your getting that night. Manning to me is bad most nights. |

I am not suggesting that Ghost will fall off a cliff...but what I am saying is that I dont think people watched Maatta play and said oh hes good, but I suspect he will fall off a cliff and get injured next year...maybe even get cancer |

When can they negotiate with Gostisbehere? Next year, correct?
Seeing what Matta got I would offer that now to Gostisbehere and be tickled pink if he agreed. |

I agree. But, even with those thing happening, he still got $4M per. So, even if that happens to Ghost, he will get the same or better if we use Maata as a comp. |

Specifically to White, but it is valid for the players you mentioned and others in general, I use liability to mean when he is on the ice the other team is more likely to score. That has proven itself to be a hard way to consistently win hockey games and make the playoffs |

Klingberg also got $4M+. I think Ghost will get $4M for 4+ years. |

You can, but if he goes out and puts up 50 points next year, now you're paying more. It all comes down to how much faith Hexy has in him. Judging by comps across the league, he's gonna get locked up and paid. |

That's where I would worry(in a good way). With him on the 1st PP and the way he plays, what if he went out and put up 60 pts?
4 million just went to five. I would strike early with Gostisbehere. His game lends itself to putting up points and stats. |

I don't know, if Hexy sees guys as future cores, he locks them up the year before FA (Couturier, Voracek) so I'm not so sure.
Not saying it will, but I could totally see it. I understand it's only a portion of 1 year, but I think signing him now, you'd save money as opposed to him replicating/increasing his numbers next year. |
