Not sure why so many people want us to miss the playoffs and sell.
I don't see us getting exceptional value for any of our legitimate sell pieces, and the wild-card is clearly within reach.
Also, at some point, you're going to want the team to get a taste of the playoffs. It'd do great things for the confidence and maturity of players like Ghost, Laughton, Cousins, etc. if they played in a series. Even if we do get bounced in 4-5 games against Washington, it's still valuable experience.
I understand that the fanbase is accepting of a rebuild and strengthening through the draft; and the organization should be grateful for that. But getting a 3rd for Schultz/Gagner doesn't come with a guarantee that the drafted player will turn into something. But I feel confident in saying that getting back into the playoffs, for the team's psyche, definitely provides value. And it keeps them hungry for next year.
I don't think anyone is asking Hexy to buy. I know I'm not. But I'd like to stand pat, see if we can finish out the grind, and watch some playoff hockey.

While I completely agree with you in terms of playoff experience, I still think Hexy needs to gauge what kind of a return he can get. I wouldn't give these guys away but if you can get someone to overpay a bit, or get a really nice return for Streit, I think you still do it. If the return is fair to ehhh, keep them and keep completing. No point of selling for the sake of selling, but I would really hate to stand pat, still miss the playoffs and miss out on an opportunity to get something back. I think right now you get what you can get for Gagner and Schultz since I think we have guys who can replace them, shop Read and Streit for a nice return, and if not keep them.

I definitely share the view with you of making the playoffs, how good that can be for a young team just to have a taste. i understand it drops us in the draft, but if we can find a guy like G in the 20's, anything is possible. and prospects are just that, none are guaranteed.
with that said, i would like to see them cut bait with some guys and try to get a return for them. i think we should trade schultz even if it is for a 3rd just because schultz is not part of this future. he does a marginal job in general, and remember, Ghost was a 3rd himself, so there are diamonds in the rough to be had, and we finally have a GM who has had very good success drafting, not only here but in LA.
guys like gagner however, are young, and i think the potential to see what he can do over these next 20 games trumps a 3rd rounder. for instance, you can see him gaining more confidence, more rapport with his linemates that hes had for a couple games now, and he has half of his goals this season in the last 2 games. so hopefully we get more from him.
same with medvedev. were not getting a 1st for him, and i would really like to see him play. a guy like schultz is taking time from him, manning isnt the answer, etc, etc.
i def agree with majority of your point, but i think trading some guys would be good

Read isn't that good nor is he going to be worth that much. Take what you can get and move on
