Meh.. They are just hockey players . Swap any one of them out and you can say the same thing.

IMO, Luck Chemistry skill in that order wins

I don't disagree at all but the trend seems to include some combo of big/hardworking and or 2 way. Skinner is none of those. I can only assume the injury he suffered may scare some GM's off as well.

Couldnt stand him.

The most sickening part was he came in and pretended he changed and was nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Agreed. The only trends we see in Murray is he likes to draft defenceman from the WHL hates Russians and likes guys in need of a fresh start. Skinner could fit that last mold.
- bluengold12

Seems he has a plan . will it work ? Don't know . One player,, one play, one deflection can throw his plan in the ringer.

Lehners job is his too lose. Seems as capable as any other tender out there. Team in front of him needs to score more goals than he lets in. getting shut out 1-0 isn't his fault (to an extant)

I missed last nights game but since he's been back he's had one, maybe two games he didn't look focused in. But yeah. They add a quality top 4 and learn to play team D and they'll look solid.

Sucks Sabres are out west so close to the deadline. Would be nice for Murray to sit some of the tradeable guys in anticipation for them getting traded.

Yeah it sucked losing that game . Makes the forwards look vulnerable like they are.

Goals win. Can't win a game if you can't score.

Tbh i don't think the top 6 winger issue is as big as some are making it. Eichel's mainly seen some combo of Girgs/McGinn/Foligno/Gionta for most of the year (kane who he didn't mesh well with which was no surprise).

They don't need to break the bank, they just need to find someone who is actually a top 6 forward even on the low end. Go big on a D-man.

Need a few more skilled wingers. Too many 3rd line grinders on this team. What sucks is the ones I'd like to get rid of probably can't. IMO

Foligno, Larsson, Gionta, Girgensons all fill the same role. Moulson is just a waste of roster space.

Only need two of those 4 on this team. Murray needs to get rid of some and focus on more offensive offenceman and defensive defenceman.

We need the Lydman and Tallinders (In his prime) on this team. agile but safe defenceman who clear the puck without icing it and don't turn the puck over thirty times in their own zone. They don't need to be all stars just enough smarts and skill to get the job done.

Did we win anything with them in their prime? Need someone better than that. That role can be filled by the 2nd pairing guys we already have.

Just medium interest in McGinn this afternoon. Maybe that changes with Ladd off the market, we'll see.

Well that would suck. I'll be honest I'd rather keep him here if we don't get anything less than a 2nd or a B level prospect.

We would've won a cup with them if they were healthy for eastern finals.

Most of his production has come from playing with Eichel, which he'd never do on the third line of a contending team, and with regular powerplay time which again he'd never see on a contending team. He doesn't really offer anything beyond that (no PK or two way game). Id wait till the last minute and ship him to whichever team bids the highest.

Well yea cuz we lost most of our depth on the back end. But they probably never get anywhere close if those two are the best defenders on the team.

If we get the same or worse return than we did with Stewart I'll be pissed. To be frank I'll be pissed if we don't come out of this deadline with at least a 2nd round pick or B level prospect. I don't care who we have to trade to get it as long as it's not Reinhart, Eichel, O'Riley, Kane, Risto or the top 3 prospects.

Lydman was arguably the second or third best defender on that team

Players brought in through trade:

Kane
Bogo
O'Reilly
Fasching
Deslaruiers

Bit of a trend there.

Edit: Even Lehner

Only one has true speed. Besides Kane, Jack and the injury-plagued Ennis, we are a slow team. I gotta think/hope GMTM recognizes that and fixes it going forward.

Kind of difficult when Murray stuck us with slow as hell guys for multiple years. Gionta, Moulson, Franson slow and terrible.

Reinhart, O'Riley slow and good.

Larsson, Foligno hard working average skaters but nothing too special. None of them are coming off the books unless Murray can work a trade for them.

Hope things change and we won't see those glaring negatives. Good players can make bad ones look good.
