Younger and faster. Sure, none of them are setting the world on fire (and that's part of my point). I don't care what Legwand did years ago. We'd have been better served playing Schaller in that spot.

I like Schaller but do not think he would bring what Leggy does to the PK.

Nothing yet at all…the only thing he said was quite a while ago that we had made contact with them in regards to letting them knw we want him and what not…remember we almost made a trade for him at the draft but they wanted the #2 pick to get Eichel for him…we said no cuz there was too much more too. But murray is good friends with Stamkos’ agent and stamkos’ agent is the agent for like 5 other guys on our team like McGinn, O’Reilly and a few others….so that internal connection is kinda there

He made it sound like they have a pretty good idea that at current time they know he wants to be here.

TM has had successful talks in extending McGinn. The only way he will trade him is for a 2nd rounder + Prospects.

Just trade him he can be replaced

I think after a season or two he probably would be fine, but the PK has a lot to do with timing and positioning and it'll take time for him to adjust to doing that at the NHL level. The skill level and speed of the players/game is much, much higher.

Sure, but I'd rather have Schaller as my 4th C at this point.

Agreed. Just dont know who would take Legwands spot on PK. Not that it really matters at this point.

You do that you have a ton of dead cap weight dragging you down. They're still paying Hodgson for the next 4 years.
- HonkFortheGoose

Aren't we still paying Erhoff and Leino as well?

If it's going to hurt an area of play in which we're performing really well, why would you rather have him instead?

I don't think you're getting any type of significant upgrade in any area out of Schaller this year in comparison to Legwand, and then you're downgrading your PK.

Only way to learn is to do it. He's impressed me so far. Hopeful he can be successful up here long term.

Yes, but they don't count toward the cap. So currently, Pegula is paying 3 guys to not play here. I hardly think he wants to continue to add to that.

Schaller is younger, will cost less, and has more offensive upside imo. He can learn the PK and the things that Legwand does well and be successful longer than Legwand will. For the rest of the year especially I'd rather have Schaller learning what to do up here since he's likely a long term piece.

I know. I like Schaller as well. I'm not saying he shouldn't be here at some point. If they manage to move Legwand, I think we may see him here for the rest of the season. Just depends on what happens between now and 3 pm Monday.

Can you interpret that for those of us who still use pens to write and pencils to do math?

Zschalberg are you secretly Schaller, trying to post on HB to get more ice time?

Foligno and McGinn are basically the same player. except one of them gets to play with eichel.

Supports Gerbe's theory, he's replaceable for far less money.

Conflicting reports on McGinn some who say negotiations have gone well, others who say he's out by monday.

I'm assuming that you posted this to point out that we get pretty much the same type of play out of Foligno?

They seemed pretty close for the most part, based on my analysis. The main difference was Goals per 60.

I wouldn't put it past Murray to trade Folingo and resign McGinn for more money, solely based on the fact that Murray didn't draft Foligno, and did trade for McGinn.

It's the ego

1) He won't be here next year
2) I think you're giving him too much credit for the success of the unit.

I am worried about next year and beyond. I couldn't care less if was a PK superstar right now.

Even strength scoring over a large sample size is way more important than special teams. That's why the Sabres are at the bottom despite good special teams numbers

Penalties are rarely called anymore and as Cabin said, most of the game is at even strength

- sbroads24

so the fact that the hawks are +13 in special team goals means nothing

got it, special teams are over-rated
