I can also edit a post I made and make it look like I called the Weber trade last week and point to it - doesn't mean I called it at the time. His post is just on a blog, so easily editable. I just don't buy the Weber call from him is all

Who cares? The main point of this is the guy who posted the bit about McGinn clearly took it from that article or they both have the same source. (Which I doubt)

Here is a pretty interesting full copy of Grosso's blurb from a "30 team Rumour update last night"

BUF – Hearing that McGuinn is likely to re-sign with the Buffalo Sabres but a source also said that if a team is willing to offer up a 2nd round pick + other assets (prospects) for the veteran forward, Tim Murray will take it and run. They are also getting significant interest in Cody Franson and Josh Gorges, both are unlikely to be traded but the Sabres are also looking for draft picks in return for these two players. Per a source the Sabres are also close to dealing Mike Weber to an Eastern Conference team, hearing Caps or Pens.

- Der Kaiser

This could be Murray trying to drum up interest before the deadline.

Idk, he's got more info than I've got. I'm not going to bet my life on his info, but for all I know he's Tim Murray.

My bet -

If they go bridge deal 3 years at 5 million per.

Long term? 6 years 5.5 million per.

Well considering he had the same exact quote pretty much from the article I'd say he's got a great source on how to copy and paste..

I would think a bridge deal, he'd still be an RFA after, correct? If so I'd think 4-6 but more likely on the 4-5 a year for 2 years.

But I'm pulling these numbers out of my ass so...

as long as they keep it 5 years or under he would still be RFA at the end I believe, correct?

Special teams are the cheese and mayo in a good sandwich.

5v5 is the meat and bread.

When teams are closely matched 5v5 (as they generally are by the time you get tot he playoffs and weed out the bottom feeders, its special teams and goaltending that makes the difference. But neither special teams or goaltending will get you there without the 5v5 to begin with.

Sounds logical

its a hard Q, because if he keeps blossoming I can see him worth 7m+ in 4-5 years.

5 years would take him to UFA, 4 would as well.

UFA benchmark is age of 27 or 7 years nhl experience.

Which is why the agent will push for a bridge. Give him a 3 year deal, 5 million, and earn the next one.

"Mike Harrington ‏@BNHarrington
Cody Franson is on ice for #Sabres not in the red contact sweater he wore yesterday that Bylsma said he'd keep for a while. Hmmm."

Wonder if he meant not play for a while or if Murray told him teams were interested and if he wanted to play in the playoffs then to come back from injury quicker.. The latter is clearly a joke..

Its in there from 18 hours ago (5:00pm EST?), though, and more interestingly -there's this, from the WSH section:

WSH – Hearing the Capitals are looking for a top-6 defensemen and have contacted both the Sabres and Canucks regarding Mike Weber and Dan Hamhuis. Nothing else is brewing but the Caps would like to add a defensemen sooner rather than later. Also hearing they would like to trade away Brooks Laich and a team like the Leafs would be interested if they got a high draft pick back along side Laich.

- Der Kaiser

https://www.washingtonpos...eadline-what-would-it-be/

"Assuming the Capitals stay healthy on the blue line for the rest of the season and then the playoffs, their three defensive pairs could be set, so Washington may just be looking for an insurance piece. A player as pricey as Hamhuis may not be worth it, so someone like Buffalo’s Mike Weber may be a better fit."
