In other news. Wideman will miss at least 11 games before his appeal will be heard. What a (frank)ing load of poop, if it gets reduced there is no way to get those games back Imagine if this happened last year and it kept us out of the playoffs and we finished 9th The appeal process needs to be fixed because that sure as (frank) isn't very fair.
- Saskabush

This was Bettman trying to appease the refs by forcing most of his suspension to be served ...I won't be surprised if once the appeal is over he is allowed to return immediately

Yeah about a week ago shink could do no wrong and was part of their future ...now he is a prospect who probably wouldn't have made it

Maybe we should bring him up and put him on the top line for a few games then trade him for something better than granlund

- Redmile247

Lol! I just can't believe how so many on here bashed him when Van took him., and now he's a Flame he's a saint.

I say we call him up and double shift him on the PK.

People were pissed about the Poirier pick. I remember lots of guys were hoping for a trade up to take Shinkaruk, so when we passed on him a lot of people were clinging to any possible theory about what was wrong with him

In the end we got to have our cake and eat it too

True that.

Not sure where Shinkaruk's defensive game is at. Bet it sucks ass. Will have to watch a Stockton game soon. Hah maybe him and MayRay find some chemistry.

But yeah i really like this deal. I see Shinkaruk putting up 25-30 goals in a few years. He's got a lot of skill and should definitely be a top 6 forward soon. I'm excited about this a

This trade isn't as lopsided and canucks fans think. Granlund will be good for the canucks. He's got the skills to be a solid 2C

I do agree granlund is a good two way player and with more playing time will only get better. Flames needed to trade a center and he was the odd man out. Van must know something about hunter that we don't. But on the surface flames kicked ass on this one.

Wow has the Van thread changed opinion. Earlier they were jumping out of buildings and now they figure they won the trade.

I honestly have no idea who won. I think Grans has good potential and I had heard Shin had an attitude problem. And a lot of people on this thread agreed with his attitude problem after the draft but now it seems he's the greatest...

- DouglasFir

I would say Shin has a higher ceiling. If that actually translates into a top 6 NHL player will have to be seen.

The problem with Granlund is that he not really talented enough to be a dominant top 6 and he is too small to be an effective grinder/shutdown role.

I could be dead wrong though.

I don't think he has the skills to be a solid 2C, but I could very well be wrong. Granlunds skill set is much more suited to the eastern conference than out west.

Wow first we got the pick 2nd (Rasmus Andersson) for Sven, now young prospect for a centre we didn't need! Andersson to play with Gio in a couple years and Shinkaruk with Poirier who we took before him (rightfully so) and Bennett.

Shinkaruk definitely doesn't have the speed Granlund has.

The Flames need to get tougher as a team. That includes our top 6 as well. Shinkaruk has one fight to his name and it wasn't pretty. Take a look if you fancy:

Just wondering where this slow, soft, defensively questionable player that is good at backdoor goals falls into the future plan of the team.

Vey is injured?

Sutter is injured?

Vrbata is day-to-day?

Benning is a bad GM?

Weisbrod won't stop until he acquires every player he drafted when he worked for Calgary?

Vancouver always has room for more plugs?

Cracknell probably shouldnt be an NHLer?

Pick any of those answers.

This statement show you absolutely nothing about hockey. Good for you think your sweet when in all reality you probably take the short bus to school

I highly doubt Poirier ever makes the Flames.

You missed words and letters in your first sentence in order for it to make sense.

Just saying; you took two hours to think of a response and you missed a bunch of words, letters and punctuation when you finally did. There's some irony to you calling anyone stupid that I feel you should be made aware of.

But yeah, sweet personal attack. Don't bother providing any substance to your reply. I'm just wrong because you're mad at me.

Hah I think I'm sweet? Can't sweet kids ride the short bus too?
