Like I said the day he dropped in the draft to the canucks...the kid has well known attitude issues.

Good player but I doubt he will ever get his head on straight.

Thanks for your 2 cents. Now, here's a quarter to piss off!!

Shinkaruk is a left winger...does this mean the end of Klimchuk?
- DouglasFir

Possibly. Shinkaruk and Poirier could be a good pairing down in Stockton. Would like to see them up with the big club for a bit here.

I have a feeling they are going to try and get rid of as many centres as they can to provide Janko a litte more incentive to sign here. Seems Feaster may have actually been right about that kid

So it's Derek Grant and Jooris going next? lol We have so many centers. We'll have to send out a lot of players if we're trying to make Janko feel better about signing here.

I bet he signs and doesnt make a big deal of it. He has some work to do in the AHL still in my opinion.

Weisbrod to Vancouver was the best move the Pacific division made, this guy has Benning's ear and Benning's asset/cap management sucks. Plus the owner is in denial.

The perfect storm.

I like this move. Granlund is a good player but fell down the depth chart for Centre. Calgary wins this trade in my opinion. But Vancouver is getting a good player just the same.

Who knows how Hunter really will play out in Calgary
But Granlund is a real asset who is NHL ready

He's only a year older than Hunter and has played 86 NHL games....28 points is nothing to scoff at considering he gets buried often on the 4th line and is utilized more defensively anyway
This Shinkaruk kid better turn into something more than just an AHL star

BINGO!

It was kind of a necessary move. Granlund is waiver eligible next year. Barring getting a better piece in a multi player deal, this is a pretty good trade that gets us an equivalent value player in a position we are weak at and buys us us another year of development.

I heard it here first.

Backs is great but if we could make him a center piece in a trade also involving one of our pending UFA's; I would be stoked.

That would be nice but might be a little rich....I still think the Flames would be fine at C with Backlund gone.

I was wondering about a possible Backlund deal too, especially since he is heating up at just the right time. For me though, if there was a possible deal for Backlund it would make sense to keep Granlund around to play 3C.

Maybe not...I guess Grant, Stajan, or one of our converted centres could take the role. Guess we'll just have to wait and see, if they deal Backlund though the return better be pretty (frank)in good. He's just the right age to be a valuable vet for when this team is ready to compete.

I hope Shinkaruk wins the calder (probably not) but just has an unreal season when he gets called up for you guys.

Just so we have more evidence to fire our stupid F"""N GM.

For what return, though? You're going to be stoked for a 2nd and 3rd rounder? Let's clarify what actual return would get you stoked. Because like Saskabush is saying, the return better be pretty freakin' sweet. Size and physicality aside, Backs provides pretty damn good 3rd line C qualities and is a great age to take over vet responsibilities when guys like Stajan are gone.

If a package of he and Russell or Hudler gets us one of the Finnish RW's draft eligible kids, yea, done deal.

I'm from Medicine Hat so I say Shinkaruk play a lot in junior. I can't speak to the rumored attitude issues, but he definitely has the talent and skill to play top 6.

So move Bennett to center permanently and put Shinkaruk on his left wing. See if the two can develop any real chemistry. At this point in the season what do the Flames really have to lose.

As for Granlund, he has the talent, just not ahead of players on the Flames.

Now I say target Detroit, Dallas, and Florida for trade deadline moves. I see prospects / RFA's with them that are movable for the right pieces on both sides. (Oleksiak, Gudbranson, Crouse, Mantha). All would be nice pieces from these teams looking to make moves in the playoffs this year.

No worries. We still have 2 more left wingers in Utica you guys might still be interested in. (prust and Higgins). I'm a little confused with this move by our GM. Unless Benning is planning to move a centre before next week? I'm not sure why this was done.

Yeah my thoughts exactly! Does this mean Morgan Klimchuk is gone? Could be a nice piece to include for Matt Murray?

I actually would. Yeah, I'm not gonna take a swing in the dark in terms of a return. But a few picks within the first three rounds would be fine with me.

Yeah, he's pretty good though. Great two way center with some decent offensive game. I think we all agree that we could handle losing him but it would still be kinda sad to see him go.

Crouse would be pretty sweet

Think something like
Hudler
Klimchuk

for

Crouse

Would fly?
