So why don't we worry about it in 2 years when that's the case?
- HonkFortheGoose

Right.....and we should wait until deadline day to discuss any trades. And we should wait until draft day to discuss the draft.

I suggested a trade involving him. I was called a hater. I'm defending why I would trade him. Simple as that
- sbroads24

I saw u call him a 4-6 defenseman TODAY
don't act like u don't "hate" on Bogo ALL THE TIME

I'll say this.... there have certainly been FAR WORSE candidates thrown out there for potential trade targets.

Him making 5.7M for the next 3 seasons after this one is a big stretch. He is definitely a top 6 forward but this team with Ennis back, Reinhart, Kane, Eichel, and ROR has 5 already.... plus most likely one of those top 4 wingers in this year's draft.

- JVince11

I don't see Murray making a move for a guy like him. Murray likes guys that have size and leave it all out there on the ice for the most part. That's not Skinner. He's fast, but he's kind of on the smallish side. I think we already have a guy like him on the team in Ennis, and Ennis's contract is better, IMO.

C'mon..... Show me one article... one tweet... anything from the media that shows they share this opinion...

ANY ONE ON HERE AGREE!!?? Does anyone on here agree that Bogo is a "negative useless over paid 4th or 5th line defensemen on this team"???

Anyone?

- JVince11

I think he's a solid 2nd pairing guy but I don't like him for the pay and term he has left. If this were like the NFL I'd ask him to go down to 4 million a year. I think that's a fair yearly cap hit for him.

Not necessarily true. Have you seen how much the Canadian dollar is worth in the US right now? The cap could stay the same or even go down this upcoming season. I think we may see things kind of plateau for a bit.
- HonkFortheGoose

I don't know... maybe...

I just see guys like Despres making 3.7M, Gio making 6.75M, Smid making 3.5M, Faulk making 4.8M, Beauchemin just got 4.5M as a 35 year old... Oduya took a discount and got 3.75M... Sekera at 5.5M... even Klefbom is making 4.16M.. Spurgeron is making 5.1M.

I'm not saying ANY of these players and Bogo are the same skill or anything but some of them are not deserving of the contracts that they got is my point and there is always someone on the market desperate to over pay hoping a 2nd pairing guy can be their 1st pairing guy.

Actually I defended him yesterday when he scored a nice goal, and all people tweeted about was Mark Pysyk's 5 foot pass to him.

Bogo isn't horrible. He isn't having a good year, and he isn't worth his deal. Just my opinion

Good lord....

You take everything to the extreme.

My point is there's no rush to get him out of here right now because he might not be in the top 4 in 2 years. I'm also not saying that if you don't find the right deal that you don't make it now either though. I just don't think moving him out, barely a year after trading for him, is something Murray is looking to do right now.

I have a bigger problem with 26 and 12 being here than anyone else.

Lest we forget that Ennis has not played since before XMas due to concussions.

Ennis is another version of Skinner I would agree... Skinner is at least 5'11 and 195 lbs though.

Does kind of seem like a "slight improvement" type guy but for a million more.

I almost guarantee Moulson is not here next season.

I could see them asking Gionta if he wanted to go to a contender this year. I could see it. We all know that ROR is our Captain next year if not.

That could happen. Who knows. I just don't think that Skinner would be a good fit being that Ennis is currently on the roster. It also seems like it would be silly to trade a guy and then bring in essentially the same guy at a higher cap hit.

But, weirder things have happened.

Gio has a NMC for this year and a limited NTC next year.

IMO he's moved next year at some point.

Pretty sure 12 will retire after next year. And even if he doesn't, I don't think you see him here.

I don't see either of them here next year.

IMO Murray is trying to build a team kind of in the mold of LA.

I doubt Gionta would do that (if he did we would have to eat 1/2 salary, which is ok with me), but I hope he does!

Gionta takes pride in his C role, so just leaving the team now would eat at him (if they ask him to move). But, you never know! I would want another shot at a cup.

I am not sure what you are doing with Moulson. Maybe shipping to a team that needs to get to cap floor might do it, but we did not front load the deal (to say the Sabres paid him more $$ early, so last few years have high cap hit, but low actual $ owe to player), so I think this would be a tough sell.

How long until the NHL lets you "change" the cap hit, by signing to a "new" deal and having it average out with current deal (to increase cap hit this year, but lower overall, long term cap hit)?

The post you quoted was about Skinner and Ennis.

I have said all along that the NHL should have a more NFL type contract system.

So limited no trade (can mean a few things) do you know what his is? (list of 10 teams, ect.)

You forgot one fatal mistake. The city of Buffalo has worse luck than the Leafs and happen to be hosting the draft this year. Perfect chance to continue that bad luck by missing out on the top three of the lotto.
- bluengold12

I don't understand how that's considered bag luck. Everyone's odds at winning any lottery are terrible. If we pick 5th or 6th so be it but I'm betting the only way that happens is if we actually finish 5th or 6th last.
