I was in a really tough division

finished 3rd

had 6 losses, would have gotten in if not for the loss by 5 points last sunday

I'm poking the bear in the leafs blog.

It might not end well for me.

It's funny that you should say that - I remember when we were on the search for a 1C and he was a possibility. I was thinking the other day that it is a good thing we didn't get him because - while he is a warrior - he has been washed up for 5 years now.

I didn't want him for a 1C. I don't recall anyone suggesting that was a role for him.

Guys the Leafs arent tanking.

It is. Leafs are rebuilding. Not tanking. Big difference.

You don't bring Babcock to tank.

But their fans told us last year that tanking was wrong! I hope they still feel the same way....

Yeah, this "doing it with dignity" is garbage. Somehow they are getting a pass on that.

I didn't want him for a 1C. I don't recall anyone suggesting that was a role for him.

FYI - we were talking about different Leafs trades. They made two.

Probably the same guy that took out Gus last year to secure the tank

Unfortunately, with the way O'Reilly and Girgensons play the game, these type of injuries aren't really a surprise when they happen. It's the risk they run when they try to block shots and stuff.

I know they haven't said the exact injury, but my guess is that it's a broken foot. He finished the Columbus game, so I would guess he blocked a shot, it hurt, but he assumed it was just a stinger. Once he took his skate off after the game it probably swelled up like crazy.

Don't all non-playoff teams trade their pending UFA's they have no intention of re-signing?

That's the trend. Which makes sense. You don't typically want to let these guys walk for nothing, so even if you can only get a 5th or 6th round pick, it's better than nothing.

The issue that's now popping up, is that when we did it the last 2 years, we got called out for "tanking."

They are not tanking because, they have not traded goalies yet.....

Let's face it. Teams intentionally lose near the end every year. It was just different last year because of such high profile players being available.

Yes. The Leafs are tanking the season, it was clear from Day 1. The Sabres did the same, and got called out for being an embarrassment to the sport.

I think it might look a little worse because we kept trading goalies as soon as soon as they started playing well. At the end of the day it is the same thing.

Again, There is nothing wrong with what the Leafs are doing. its about time they did it. I just find it funny that Toronto based media call the Sabres an embarrassment to the sport last year. Yet, now the beloved Leafs are doing it and they are "losing with dignity"
