Didn't I read that they were losing Piet's this year??? Not sure they would trade Shattenkirk?

They need to rid themselves of Bouwmeester it he worst way.

- JVince11

Piets is signed long term. J-Bo has a NTC, gona be hard to move him.

Berglund helps STL shed salary and gives the sabres a RW who can actually play.

It's perplexing, isn't it?
- sippyd

Is it???

The best centers they have had in the last like 5 seasons are Kadri and Bozak. Have had some pretty solid wingers but IMO Kadri and Bozak are barely better than Hodgson.

I'm cautious solely because Berglund is only signed through next season. He'd either NEED to be resigned soon after the trade like we did with ROR or traded again for trade bait.

I'd bet that Berglund would easily get 5.5M per year.

Yet the Marlies are at 80pts and the 2nd place team is at 68pts

Marlies have been a very good team for some time now if I remember right. They have always had a ton of AHL vet type guys down there scoring a bajillion goals for them like TJ Brennan is doing now for them in addition to the stud prospects there too.

They both have 1 20 goal season and 3 15+ goal seasons under their belts.

They have about 20 games difference in their careers and Kadri has 10 more goals but just dishes the biscuit better. he has like 40 more assists.

They both are career - in +/-.

They really are not that far apart.

Yup... a career AHL masterpiece.

he is the Karlsson of the AHL. He can play the dang game but every time they bring him up to Toronto... he is nothing. I don't know if it is the speed of the game or the size/skills of the players around him but he just is not as good.

Didn't they have like McKegg and Biggs or some others that were career AHL studs?

STL needs to clear cap space to sign Jaskin, Schwartz and if wanted re-sing Backes.

They have roughly $1MM in cap space right now.

- ImThatGuy

he's right though, even if they are desperate for cap, pick #6 likely means they will miss out on Matthews, fins, tkachuk and chychrun.

Going to have a hard time convincing them to trade Shattenkirk for Nylander or Juolevi.

Sabres need to finish 30th to guarantee top 4 pick and hope for a win in the lottery for a change!

With the draft in Buffalo this year.... Man... it's going to be interesting..

If Buffalo wins the lottery... then all of the critics of it being rigged will come out.

If anyone claims it is rigged for us they are delusional, after the crosby draft and the last 2 years... give me a break.

We are the #1 hockey market in the league, we need to get at least one 1st overall!

You would have to think though, what better, cheaper option would there be?

6th overall + Player X on cheap deal for Shattenkirk and pick

AMEN to this....

god damn....

Usually I like to think that the league hates the Sabres with their lack of follow up on cheap shots on our players usually.

But we are a young and very respectable team in this league now that is making national waves with our dedication to the team. We have a franchise player in Eichel and 2 other young dynamos in Reinhart and Risto. We have a rugged vet in ROR and then our bad boy in Kane who is the one that other teams' hate.

Add in another stud like Matthews... man. That builds itself.

If the oilers are picking ahead of us it might be them. 6th overall + player x probably does it (of course depends on who it is), my point was a straight up deal may not be as enticing to them.

One hustles and can play defense and the other is in the AHL playing with himself.

I'll give a pretty big edge to Kadri over Sh!tstain.
