well yea, but our problem as a team that's 28-30th in the standings at any given time is scoring period

I'm worried about our PP that can't seem to get past the blue line lately

That's where Ennis could help. He is good at backing teams down and gaining the zone. Except when he's playing like a half wit

You know what I don't like....

And it is completely contradictive to what I just said...

The Calder Trophy race....

All these Flyers fans thinking that Ghost is the best thing since sliced bread and he is on this point streak and has 31 points in 37 games.

I really am not impressed because he has gotten 18 of them on the powerplay. More than 50% of his goals and assists individually have come on the PP.

He also only plays 19:05 TOI/G which is about 115th in the NHL among just Defensemen. Which can be argued that he has all those points in ONLY that much time or that he plays sheltered minutes as a 5'11 160 lb D.

I just am not as impressed with him as I should be for a Calder. McDavid, Eichel, Larkin, Reinhart, Domi, Duclair, Bennett.

Panarin is a 24 year old 7 year KHL vet. I don't think it is fair that he is even considered a rookie.

Lol
He's prob the best skater on our team

I think we're starting to see guys settle into their roles & play pretty well
It'll be interesting to see where Ennis fits in when he finally gets back
His speed & ability could be a really nice for with Eichel & Girgensons...
Until we get Stamkos! (Hahaha)

Who gives a sh!t?!
Neither Eichel or Reinhart would win anyways...
It's a pretty meaningless award IMO

Edit
Although I do agree that Panarin shouldn't be eligible
Just don't think it's a big deal is all

This is what I don't get... he plays sheltered minutes and nearly 60% of his points are just PP points. He is only +3 even with all of that too.

I watch a lot of Hawks games
Although Panarin is like 30 years old (lol)...
He's been great all year
And it's not just Pk88 helping him. He's held up & returned the favor quite well.

But I really don't care about the Calder anyways

Nothing against you...

Just sick of all the stupid Calder talk
And I'm not just talking about on here. It's freaking everywhere.
Should mcdavid get votes?
What about the Philly defenseman?
Some guy would take mcdavid over Eichel AND Larkin!
OMG! OMG!
It's all lame to me

I'm just happy that Eichel & Reinhart are playing well, and getting better throughout the season.
That's all I really care to talk about

Sorry if that came off as an attack towards u

Same, idk why i omitted him i like his game as well
Ghost is the type of player we could REALLY use on our back end,
we have no offensive talent except Risto who is definitely above average

Wanna hear an actual Interesting Fact of the Day...

Eichel averages more ice time than ANY rookie forward in the NHL this year. He has the most PP points of any forward rookie in the NHL this year. He is 2 goals off the tie for leading rookie NHL goal scorer. The most game winning goals of any rookie. And.. from what I can tell... the most Penalty Kill time of any rookie forward as well.

He is the ONLY TWO WAY forward in this entire rookie class. They all live/die off of scoring goals.

I think it's the LEAST meaningful award given out this year
And the talk about why this guy shouldn't win or that guy shouldn't win, blah blah blah... Just drives me nuts

I did come off a bit like a d!ck though
That's why I edited & then apologized

Ps...
How's the little one doing?

If Eichel and Rhino both pot 20 goals a piece this year they will be the first rookie tandem in Buffalo to do that since 1975 I think it was.

And my new born that you are referring to turns 3 on March 1st and is an absolute tank of a kid. He will be a sports maniac.

All good. It is aggravating. The award doesn't really mean much when you have 18-25 year olds in the same category. IMO a 18-19 year old coming straight out of college or juniors that produces at this level is much more impressive than players in there 20s who have spent YEARS in the A or other pro leagues. Rookie of the year should be reserved for 1st year players as in straight from college or juniors. No AHLers. No KHLers no 25 year olds. I think people would care more then seeing a bunch of 18-19 year olds battling it out. I think it would mean more. No other sport does it the way the NHL does. (Maybe MLB?)

I actually had a Flyers fan tell me on Twitter that besides Karlsson that Ghost was the best offensive D-Men in the entire NHL.

I about ate a hobo's shoe.

I actually was cheering for both McDavid and Eichel to do great even though McDavid went to EDM... but the absolute arrogance of some writers and any one from Canada is just beyond f'n baffling to me.

Just completely disregards the rest of the NHL. People calling a kid who has played 21 games the best player int he entire league and the most important and everyone else is just half as good. I now actually hate the f'n kid just because other people have made him out to be some McJesusGretzky of Hockey.

I want Eichel and McDavid to be the new Crosby and Ovechkin. Bring in the crowds, the winter classics, the prime time games on TV... I want it all.

HAHA sounds like my son.... turns 2 march 22nd wants to wear his eichel jersey every day. Everytime hockey comes on or im playing NHL 16 he runs around screaming Eichel. And he loves the goal horn! Also a tank, about 3 inches taller than all the kids at his daycare and 35lbs+ already

McCabe has offensive talent
That'll shine through more once Franson is traded or leaves & he gets his pp time
Pysyk will start getting points in time too,
Although they'll mostly be assists

I think both will end up being productive on the pp for us

But I know what ya mean
We don't have that "wow" type offensive defenseman

As long as they're solid in our own end & getting the puck up the ice to our dynamic forwards though...
Then I'm ok with not having that guy. Usually they aren't any good in their own zone anyways, which drive me crazy.

Guys that come over from Japan & Cuba are allowed in the MLB rookie of the year convo

I do agree with you about the NHL, but I still don't know that it'll be an accurate indicator of who will be the best player in that class... Or even a good player for that matter

I just think it's a meaningless award that ppl argue WAY too much about
And usually it's just bc you're being a "homer" and trying to prop your guy up (like philly fan) or tear someone down (like Panarin or McDavid) so that your guy has a shot

I just think the whole thing is lame

Isn't Guhle supposed to have a huge offensive upside???
