Evander Kane won't be resigned after his contract is up. He'll likely be traded 2 years from now at the deadline if not sooner. Then he'll turn into rubber and bounce around from team to team. He is what his reputation is.

Irony:

People at work commenting on a message board while being paid, using company broadband, and in spite of company policy complaining that a young man violated a team (company) rule while maintaining their own moral superiority.

Irony.

Glad to know your crystal ball is working so well . Before social media we would not even known if a player missed a practice. ( not as uncommon as you think) He screwed up, it is costing him a games pay. I like the player he is becoming and I think he is in Murray's long term plans and they will fix these little hiccups in his judgement.

You're trying to claim something that simply is not true, just because it helps your argument. Hossa and Keith are NOT hitting the cap as a top $$$ salary would now, $5M is no longer top $. The Hawks do not have 6 guys hitting the cap with high end salaries. Who cares how long they're signed or actual pay, cap is all that matters.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have Stamkos, just not if it means ripping the core apart 5 yrs from now.

What I'm hearing from you is, he's available so sign him....and 3 yrs from now let's pray we can sign all our RfAs....its risky.

- nikel

It was up there when they signed them 5 years ago!

3 years from now, we'll have plenty of cap room even with Stamkos signed
MAYBE we have to lose Ennis or Bogosian or Kane...
But these are supporting guys, not "core"
We won't have to worry about our "core" like you're suggesting
None of those guys are making 10mil on their next contract

And if we lose guys, like Chicago, we need Pysyk to be able to play on pair 2, & Bailey & Fasching to fill in for Ennis & Kane....
And so on

It's only a risk if u think Stamkos won't continue to be a top performer
I think he will be

idk where u get the "5 years from now" talk?
NONE of our guys are up then
It's possible some might be on bridge deals that end then, but that's just where Murray has to be smart with the way he signs these guys

Also...
Stamkos is better than everyone we have
And there's no guarantee that Eichel or Reinhart will be that good

Plus, Stamkos will be 31 in 5yrs, still very much in his prime

Yup, it's social media, it's Dustin Byfuglien, it's servers and bartenders making up stories. He's just misunderstood.

It's everyone but Evander Kane.

For as "disappointing" as Kane has been...

He's leading our team in goals per game played

I think some were a little to quick to bash him

Respectfully disagree. Do you hold a McDonald fry cook at the same level as a police officer? One job is given major slack off privileges, the other is not. I will give Kane the benefit of the doubt because everyone deserves that, but if a pattern develops than he needs to held accountable. I don't want to lose a game seven in the playoffs because he was under the weather from partying the night before. It's not right to the thousands of fans that bleed blue and gold, and it's not right to the 18,690 that pay out the bum to go to the games. Some jobs are held to a higher standard than others.

You're reaching
We don't have a game today, let alone a playoff game
I get your concern, but I think you're going overboard

Let it go . It was a small mistake . He is getting better. It is costing him a games pay . If only was not traded for Tyler Myers you would not be as upset . He has been improving and his play on the ice is coming back . Recovering from shoulder surgery takes a while. Everything is not as dark as you want to see. But if you want I say we hang him in front of First Niagara and make an example of him.

Oh, come on now, if you're implying a race thing, just stop. Look, we all want Kane to do well and be apart of the teams core going forward. But the facts are he had a problem in Winnipeg and now he is in year one with the Sabres and he has a sexual assault allegation against him and now this. Yes, the Sabres have dealt with it, and hopeful everything is good moving forward, but you can't deny a pattern in Kane of him not taking his job seriously.

I'm not upset. We aren't making the playoffs, and if he didn't play another game it would only help our draft position.

I'm annoyed that he can't stay out of the news for stupid off ice stuff, a mere year after he was traded for off ice stuff.

I'm annoyed at LeSean McCoy too. I was annoyed at Zadorov too.

It's not a parking ticket. He's missing a game. It's perfectly fine to be annoyed at that

I Think folks are getting far too upset over a 24 year old making a mistake. I made mistakes at 24 . It is costing a games pay which is just over $64,000. He will learn. He has actually been well behaved except for having a large unit and screwing the crap out of that poor girl . Baby steps. I like how he is playing on the ice. And trust Mr Murray will continue to help him in improving his judgement.

Social media has drawn all these things into the spotlight . Human beings are flawed . The make bad decisions when they are young . I can move on from them and hope they learn from their mistakes. Thank god social media was not around when I was that age to inform the world of my mistakes.

That's what I find so funny. Why do people think they can hold professional athlete to a higher standard? To me, it's like the last group of people who should be held to a higher standard. They get paid to do that you did as a child for fun. Enough said.

No I'm not joking. If majority of people do it for free, fun, or pay to do it, it's not work.
- Mentalorgasm5

Wow. Working out, practicing and playing are a fraction of their duties for their jobs.

How about all the events they do? How about getting on a plane at 41 times a year just for the regular season, then add playoffs, pre season to it, yes, they're nice planes, but Rob Ray regularly complains about going on the road, how he doesn't like being away from his family that much, RJ doesn't even go on the road anymore because it's too much work. How about putting their health on the line every time they go to work; even just in practice? Yes, they get rewarded handsomely for it, but to say it's not "work" is just ignorant.

Yzerman wins GM of the year again if they lose Stamkos for nothing... Book it!
- jochfr

Can he win it retroactively? Say 4 years from now when someone's paying $12 million for a guy that maybe scores 35 goals with another 3 years to go?

Why not? You let your company and coworkers down by not showing up. Did you get fined or suspended? All people across all professions show up tardy. Holding an injury against him? Thats like getting mad at someone for using a sick day. The sexual assault is a SOP, and nothing is going to come from it.

Its all nit picky, the kid has been fine.

- Mentalorgasm5

Now that I agree with.
