Mother of God I wish this nonsense of Verstink Coming back would stop. He is not what we need on this team Staal on the hand would be a welcomed addition. I can't believe people would actually want Verstink back

I hope they practice the PK this morning now that Kruger AND Hossa are out. It's been frickin' awful lately, and it's costing us points in the standings.

The Goose is out again tonight. Love it. way to give the kid the tough love to make sure he plays his position- Defense.

Damn I wish Teets would get this treatment.

Remember when the DEESH was scratched throughout November and came out like a man on a mission?

If Hino works out pull up McNeil Ross or whoever for a showcase and let teets sit for a week. I GUARANTEE he will actually fight for a puck

It's nice to see that Panik will get a shot with Toews and Shaw. I think the kids will do well in that role and I hope he has a great performance against his former team.

Q has shown a lot of faith in Teravainen so far. If TT continues to under perform then he may get benched. But before that happens we'll likely see his ice time cut.

Still not on board with Hino being recalled over McNeill or Hartman, but I'll be patient and give him a chance before I make any real judgements.

Would love skinner/rask trade that somebody had proposed. Doubt it happens, but that would be ideal.

As far as TT goes, we can go round-round but lets look at it this way......19/15/16 are 3 of your 4 centers LONG term unless 16 gets crazy ideas this summer. I think 24 is a better option at C then 86.....then you look at RW and 88/81 and are going no where. 86 hasn't shown enough to possibly push 81 down to a more Modano role as his finishing touch has tapered off.

So my point is, where does 86 fit in long term? Yes, he's versatile but so is 65 and 65 has shown a better consistency to produce then 86 at the NHL level. The other risk you take is at what point do OTHER teams start to downgrade the worth of 86 if the Hawks were to ever shop him?

The goal is to win....today It's up to Hawks management to walk that fine line to ensure long term success, but a cup today supersedes any talk of what if tomorrow.

To me you need to upgrade the depth. Sekac is on his 3rd NHL team in the past 12 months. Panik was a Toronto castoff. Both of these guys haven't made anyone think the depth scoring is getting more consistent. This team is still 2 lines and 2 lines heavily for any chance to score.

You get a legit top 6 lw and now you have 3rd line of danault, shaw and teuvo once Hossa comes back. You can then roll Rasmussen with Desi and Kruger come playoff time or flip flop Rasmussen with Shaw if you wanted.

However, when Desi is giving a shot to play with 19/65 as soon as Hossa goes out on Saturday that should send up red flags as to how bad Q views the depth on this team. Not a chance in hell Desi gets that shot that last spring because the depth was a TON better.

Big 2 weeks for Bowman.....west as usual is pretty stocked 1-8.

Good assessment there-- I think Panarin has surpassed TT on the list for the Hawks-- which makes TT expendable-- for the RIGHT price--especially with Schamltz coming-- BUT the Hawks can't do anything to tarnish his perceived value--

Interesting to see with TML in town if Lou and Shanny are in the UC-- Maybe Scotty too? I suspect that the Hinostroza call up IS a showcase-- Toronto is one of the teams that can take on salary and are seeking prospects in their tear down / rebuild--

I like Komarov (even though he is a center) on their roster if they make him available-- and anyone know status of JVR's injury / scheduled return? While I have always hated Polak as a STL Blue-- he is definitely a veteran upgrade over Scuderi-- for the right price-- Is this JVR talk all fantasy or is there something there?

That and the guy constantly ripping Seabrook on twitter. My god. It's old and stupid and pathetic.

That site, which I won't even name here, has lost all credibility for me. Sad thing is, is it's filing a lot of new Hawk fans with preconceived notions that just aren't accurate. Which in turn makes our fan base dumber, and morons like Bernstein even less tolerable..........

Does it have something to do with side he plays on? I think what I've got below is correct, but jump in if it's not.

LD: Keith, Svedberg, Gustaffson, Scuderi
RD: Seabrook, Rozsival
Switch: Hjalmarsson (possibly better on left), TVR (much better on right)

So 2-4, 57-7, 43-32 now are the lines?

Depending on the asking price for the other pending UFAs Versteeg may be a realistic trade target. Is Steeger the best 1LW option - no. Is Steeger the worst 1LW option - no.

I think there is something to JVR rumor , I know that is a very big leap for some .But I have heard that for sometime , who knows . Polak would be idea for this team for sure .If you could pick him up for Hinostroza , I would do it in a NY minute ..

Hinostroza being recalled should push TT to compete and if he (TT) doesn't I wouldn't be surprised if Vinny passes him on the depth chart.

I would guess the nature of the aggressiveness of the Hawks is high right now and I'm sure he's had talks with everyone about anyone that he and his team feel are targets.

I don't know if Vinny is a showcase. I truly think 86 will be on that top line by the 3rd or 4th shift and given a long look which frees up a top 9 spot for Vinny to slide in to. Kid has earned it, and while everyone assumes Q HATES or has Dano in his dog house its' not accurate. Teuvo had the same treatment last year and now hes' on the team. Drives me nuts about all the hate talk regarding Q and prospects. No, Q likes smart and NHL ready players....some prospects are there quicker mentally/physically then others. There is NO bias when it comes to that.

It frees TT to get a shot with 19/65 as Panik will be off that line by the 2nd period UNLESS he has a quick start. This may be 86's last legit shot at RW1 and people can't blame q if he fails again.........

As you said, we better see a lot more compete out of 86 then we have recently.....

I don't think its due to what side he plays on... TVR plays left with Seabs just where Gus does as well. This lineup is better defensively than with Gus at #4. TVR is developing quite nicely and does well with Seabrook. THe Rozy Sved pair could use a tad more speed...

I personally think its because his defensive play has slacked of late and Q wants him to be mindful of that when he plays.
A Svedberg showcase could also be happening.

I understand where your coming from on this but at Least he's fast which maybe what this team needs after looking sluggish the last 2 weeks.

Not a terrible 3LW either. At least we know hell compete his ass off for a cup.

That run into the goal post last year was nuts

Another thing about Vinny is that he left school 2 years early because the Hawks front office talked to him and told him they thought he was ready to play in the AHL. He seems to be further along development wise than other players.

Didn't Q state Hossa would miss around 2 weeks and the injury isn't as bad as they fir st thought. If Q is correct, than all this talk about Hossa going on LTIR can stop because he won't be going on LTIR - there's no advantage for the Hawks to put Hossa on LTIR if he will be back before the playoffs.

Chris Pronger was traded with 2 years of a $4.9mil cap hit while on LTIR because he was only owed an actual salary $575k/year. Arizona saw a cheap way to get to the CBA mandated floor.

In 2017-18, Hossa's salary will be $1mil while his cap hit will be $5.275mil. For a small market team struggling to meet the floor, I would think Marion Hossa's net -$4.275mil contract would be coveted weather he can still play or not.

- PuckAndSticks

I think Hoss has a NTC or NTM in his contract....so he would have to approve it. I think.
