Laine though. Plus, I'm not too sure trading a guy like Sanheim blows up the plan of building from the back out. You need to score too, and Laine is going to be an animal.
I'm doin it. That's just me though.
EDIT: I do agree. Let's win the lottery and say (frank) it - Giroux_Is_God
We don't even have to win the lottery, just one of the three lottery picks and we've got a good chance. (You probably know that, just checking).
I know you shouldn't think about it like this because pick value isn't player value...but trusting Hexy and his crack team of scouts, the trade scenario you have would be a lot like Sanheim + Provorov (top 10 pick) + Konecny (mid 20s pick) for Laine. Does that sound palatable? |

No different then just a random fight in the middle of a game.
"ah...no Simmer for 5. Crap."
What are the odds that'll lose the game. 5 mins in the first period without Simmer. That's 2 shifts. - Giroux_Is_God
Let's be honest with ourselves, they are losing either way

Just don't like it when they are already hurting for depth. What if they get a PP during those 5 minutes? Having Simmonds instead of White could be a huge difference.
I also think fighting Glass gives the Rangers exactly what they want. I don't want them to have that satisfaction. |

Yeah they had interest in Panarin. What I LOVE about Hexy though is he took a chance on Medvedev and went all in on trying to get Zaitsev too, who is probably gonna be a Leaf. I doubt this is the last time he tries to go for a super skilled KHL player. |

FWIW, I think it was Elliot Friedman who mentioned that teams are not as interested in giving up high picks for rentals this year. They actually want term. - Mononoke
sure in the case of a Coburn I get it. But not an over 35 contract for a guy coming off of a nasty injury. Streit hasn't looked like Streit. I just think his value will be higher next season assuming he is healthy and back to normal |

If I'm Simmer I tell Glass, okay I'll fight you just as soon as you get Brassard or another skill player to fight Gudas. I'm not trading a top line player for a scrub in a planned fight unless they do the same. |

Fair enough. Though a team like Florida, not near the ceiling, could take the term. And a contract could always be taken back. My worry is just that Streit's play declines drastically and he becomes immovable. |

Meyers Losing TVR even tho in camp is the down side of not being able to sign college players til they leave school unlike junior players. |

yeah he has not looked good at all this year. hoping it was the injury prior to surgery and his trying to recover and catch back up to speed post surgery. either way they will be out from under his contract and RJ after next season. Keep shedding those contracts |

Myers and Martel. Maybe it was Simon Nolet who suggested them -- he's the best. |

Forgotten man and 4th round pick Samuel Dove-McFalls (ok, forgotten in all but cool name) scored 2 goals in the final 30 seconds of his game today to tie it up before they won in OT. Added an apple. He had a bad knee injury and surgery and missed a lot of time. In my box score watching, he's been turning it on of late. Could be a really good defensive 3/4 center. |

I admit I have not seen one minute of Meyers playing (saw him in camp tho) but its exciting to see him getting praise as being a legit prospect by non Flyers scouts and people like Button. |

- Mononoke
Come on now...it's not every draft a mid 20s guy turns into a potential real deal stud.
For every Giroux/Konecny, there's 3 Laughtons.
At the end of the day, it'll all be irrelevant because trades like that never would happen...it's just an interesting thing to think about. Of course, it's also February. We'll revisit this at the end of the season when we know what pick they have |

I watched a period Friday night. I think he's on again Wednesday and the Flyers aren't playing, so I may try to catch some more. |

Yeah, I've kept eyes on him, big strong kid who plays a 200' game. Most don't expect much offense from him at the higher level, but good to see he's scoring big goals at big times. |

NHL could just do away with the draft altogether and make the kids free agents |

This is a very good draft through the first-early second. The Laughton draft was pretty awful, and I believe they have a good chance of getting a better player than him at a similarly drafted position. I mean you can replace Konecny with Laughton if you want and posit a Sanheim + Provorov + Laughton trade for Laine. I wouldn't do that either. |

anarchy
I actually like the system the way it is. the aspect I don't like is seeing kids go from entry level contracts to big contracts. |
