And that Duncan Keith contract will continue to be an absolute steal.

The injuries to Couturier and Del Zotto surely puts the nail in the coffin for the playoff chances. They were slim to begin with B. Schenn is a tough decision. What he is a streaky goal scorer that can perhaps one day be a 25-30 goal scorer. The thing is, when he's not scoring he's pretty invisible. I guess in today's NHL a 25 goal scorer is worth 5 million a year.

I think the only real trading chip the Flyers have is Neuvirth. Streit hasn't played well, Read has been inconsistent etc. The last 28 games at least we have Ghost to watch. He's been a breath of fresh air.

- PLindbergh31

I could be wrong but I honestly don't see Streit as being movable until next deadline when he is on an expiring contract and easier to fit under a contender's cap. Esp with him being on a over 35 contract and there being talk of the cap possibly dropping. It would be risky for a team. Being Timonen got them 2 2nds (well would have been a 2 and 4 had Chicago not gotten to the finals) so I can't see why he wouldn't get a similar return next deadline.

Flyers have dealt with cap issues for years and have nothing to show for it, so I'd love to be the Blackhawks right now. Wondering how they will deal with all these cap issues after first deciding where they will fit their next banner whenever they get it.

I just think it's funny the flyers shed vinny's cap hit and the cap will be lowered potentially next year by the entire amount of that hit ha. Either way it's obviously still a plus and they are heading in the right direction but they can't catch a break here. A compliance buyout would be great

I look at it the other way....imagine if they didn't shed hi contract.

Just trying to get riled up for the bloodfest tonight. I hear someone is going to remove Simmonds leg and peel his skin off or something

Typical Blackhawks. They sign Panarin to an 850K contract, and he's got more points than any player on the Flyers team. Absurd. I don't care if he's playing on a line with Wayne Gretzky circa 1983

Rangers are such whiners. They've basically become the Pens

That would have been awful. I don't really look at it the way I describe, it's just funny to think about. Really interested to see what they do at the deadline (or before).

GMs have probably been preparing for this for a while. I doubt they just heard the rumors like the average fan. Could make for an interesting or very boring deadline.

Plus the Hawks' problems with the cap more so revolve around having too many good players. Oh no, we have to worry about Buff and Ladd and Saad and Sharp!

Flyers: oh no we have to worry about and and

I wonder what they are thinking to be honest. They've seen all the replays, had a week to get over it. Could turn out to be uneventful. I think at the very least someone will challenge Simmonds early and then get on with the game.

FWIW, I think it was Elliot Friedman who mentioned that teams are not as interested in giving up high picks for rentals this year. They actually want term.

I'm sure Glass will challenge him, but considering the Flyers have like 5 good players, it would be stupid for Simmonds to take himself out of the game.

Well, let's ask this.

Is Sanheim a trade piece right now? I'm not saying Hexy should be dangling him, but in a blockbuster trade- and I don't mean for Bufflin...I mean one that CLEARLY is what this team needs (like trading for a young sniper with 40 goal potential )- is Sanheim expendable behind gritted teeth?

Provorov
Ghost
Morin
Meyers

I'm just a big believer in seeing the plan through. I think Hexy is too. Is Sanheim expendable behind gritted teeth? Yes, in the right deal. Giving up Sanheim plus a top ten pick plus another first would just be too high a cost imo. This top ten is stacked. And if the Flyers do sneak in another first somehow, it's pretty stacked through the early second round too.

Let's just agree on this: I'd rather have the Flyers win a lottery pick and draft Laine, while still having Sanheim.

Laine though. Plus, I'm not too sure trading a guy like Sanheim blows up the plan of building from the back out. You need to score too, and Laine is going to be an animal.

I'm doin it. That's just me though.

EDIT: I do agree. Let's win the lottery and say (frank) it

I don't know if I agree. It could be worse if he doesn't. Then there could be stupid poop the rest of the game

I doubt it. I just don't want to trade 5 mins of Simmonds for 5 mins of Glass. If Kreider or someone good wants to fight him then sure.

Flyers now have no top pairing defenseman and only one line that can score. It's just not worth it.

No different then just a random fight in the middle of a game.

"ah...no Simmer for 5. Crap."

What are the odds that'll lose the game. 5 mins in the first period without Simmer. That's 2 shifts.

It's still only a couple of shifts. It'll suck but if it comes up I want to see him answer the bell and pummel him
