Whats that even about?

That gravity is comes in waves?

Just wait for the next batch of losers to blame that on their weight gain or inability to focus.

Fascinating. Tell me how this is even in the same universe as the gudas hit.

Kucherov wasn't lunging or tangled up with another player.
Gudas didn't leave his feet.

Next.

- Giroux_Is_God

Read the article. Leaving your feet is kind of a big deal when it comes to supplemental discipline.

“After taking a couple of quick strides to intercept Kucherov’s path, Kronwall launches up and into a hit, driving his left forearm into Kucherov’s face just after Kucherov releases the pass,” the narrator of the video states. “This is charging. Many charging penalties are adequately punished by a minor or major penalty. What causes this infraction to rise to the level of supplemental discipline is the force with which the hit was delivered and the significant head contact that resulted from Kronwall launching into it.

“Rather than staying low and delivering a full-body check to Kucherov’s core, Kronwall elevates unacceptably, with his skates off the ice prior to contact,” the video continues.

So if guys skate around and squat when a guy is coming their way, should it be a penalty on the hitter? Hell, Ovechkin had a much dirtier hit on Simmonds last week when Simmonds was on his knees and no penalty was called. He hip checked simmonds head into the side wall.

The guy reached down. Thats his fault. If there is ANY area on the ice that you shouldnt do that... its right there. Now if he had fallen over... different story. He put himself in a bad spot.

Didn't see the caps game

But, if you squat down at the last second, it's a legal check, as cited in one of the rules feanor posted outlining how players are not allowed to put themselves in a vulnerable position a LA turning their back.

So now you think it's an illegal hit, considering you're shifting the discussion to discipline?

I'm not sure I follow.

Time has nothing to do with subsection (ii). You are getting it confused with subsection (iii). Read the actual rules, instead of coming up with your own.

48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A hit resulting in contact with an
opponent’s head where the head was the main point of contact and
such contact to the head was avoidable is not permitted.
In determining whether contact with an opponent's head was
avoidable, the circumstances of the hit including the following shall be
considered:

(i) Whether the player attempted to hit squarely through the
opponent’s body and the head was not "picked" as a result of poor
timing, poor angle of approach, or unnecessary extension of the
body upward or outward.

(ii) Whether the opponent put himself in a vulnerable position by
assuming a posture that made head contact on an otherwise full
body check unavoidable.

(iii) Whether the opponent materially changed the position of his body
or head immediately prior to or simultaneously with the hit in a way
that significantly contributed to the head contact.

Interesting I wasn't aware of section II especially. I still don't see how gudas hit in that game situation does anything positive for the flyers. I appreciate the physicality but I'd rather he pick his spots better

Basically, space time is a puddle, and when poop with mass does its thing on the surface of the puddle, it makes waves. Just like water.

This was accepted for decades but never actually proven. It's now proven.

I don't like him putting us on the PK, either, even in a 5-1 game. And I do think it was a minor charging penalty. But it wasn't a leaping headshot that picked the head that requires a suspension.

Bill just tweeted no hearing for Gudas.

Meh. They had that run when they had Briere/Drury and Afinogenov. Failed to get enough size to take that next step.

Thats it really.

It's kind of funny that we want Gudas to pick his spot better and maybe lay up a little since it is 5-1 but on the other end Buffalo would probably push harder and hit more since they want to end on a good note and make sure they are trying to build some momentum for the rest of the game or next one.

Hitting hard is fine. Plowing into a guy in a prone position when the game's out of reach (outside of a playoff series) is a different issue. To me, at least.

Very surprised no hearing for gudas. However, why is foligno beaking off like a 5 year old calling him an idiot and stupid?? I mean grow a brain foligno... It's not the schoolyard. That's the worst trash talk I've ever heard and he needs a vocabulary builder apparently. Jebus

Late to the party but I didnt think the hit was illegal I just thought it was very unnecessary. He had time to lay the check without trying to put him into last week

Isn't the guy 5'9''?

So for him to crunch down a little makes him even more prone.

Just watched the hit again and I think Gudas comes off the bench and takes two steps as the play comes to him.

It was unnecessary given the game circumstances. I agree. One thing I detest in the new game is thy ever single big hit ends in a fight (this was not a good example as it was marginal) but every single time there is a big hit there's a fight. I hate it. I'd love to see a new rule that if someone gets jumped in a situation like that that even if the player defends himself the initiator gets tossed. That would stop it maybe.
