well not with a broken leg and not for both Virtanen and Theodore, that is a pretty lofty package. Maybe one or the other and a first though. |

Should have drafted Shea Theodore instead of Shinkaruk - stupid Mike Gillis |

A defenseman in the first round?! What is this! I actually like Shink though, kid has got some pretty crazy hands. |

that's fair, I thought maybe he'd give him a late season shot, but i get leaving him down to gain weight, learn the pro game (al la Detroit). I think this franchise needs to learn how to develop a little better, most young guys need some seasoning first. |

No, just no, I like Hamhuis, but his time here is up. It's time to look at alternatives, part of the problem is that we're so fixated on players who grew up here and want them to come here but we forget that not every player grows up wanting to play for the Canucks and that not all them would fit either cap-wise or chemistry-wise or be cost-effective to get.
With Edler gone, I'd be willing to see what it would take to grab Theodore from Anaheim. Let's see if we can't get a defenseman that can either make Edler expendable or else drop him down the lineup so that he can head up the second pairing with Hutton next season. - DariusKnight
I agree about looking at alternatives...just don't think Hamhuis needs to be the one to go. I see him as all the things you mentioned...a fit cap wise, chemistry wise, etc.
I think we'll make a JB move and try and find a RFA Dman that is stuck behind more serious talent...in the off season.

People here were pissed when he passed over Shink with the #9 pick, can you imagine the outrage had he passed him over again? |

I prefer to keep Hamhuis and do a big trade with Edler but NTC. |

I heard Ian MacIntire talking on the 1040 last night for about 5 minutes.
He had some interesting points. He doesn't believe GMs will be doing Derek Roy's for second trades anymore. GMs realize the value of ELCs that need to contribute to building a roster , so they will hold onto draft picks.
He doesn't believe Vrbata wants to be moved. His wife is due any week , he does not want to uproot his family. IM believes Vrbata will exercise his NTC and provide only a list , then it is up to JB to try and find a suitor from the list.
In other words don't expect a lot of change in the next few weeks. Benning said the same message a week ago. |
