Anyone read Lucic's player tribute?

I could help but laugh at this part when he was talking about being traded and his wife on social media:

"I’m texting my mom. I’m texting my wife. Honestly, she was on Twitter more than I was. She’s reporting back like, “Well this guy says you’re definitely being traded, but his profile picture is just a dog? Might be a random guy.”

The profile picture with a dog was EK...

The quote you picked is funny.

Here's what I took away from the article. It's something i think the Sabres are going through this year, at a much lower level:

It’s crazy to say, but I really believe it: we don’t lift the Stanley Cup in 2011 if we don’t blow the Flyers series in 2010. It made us understand what it takes to win. When you think you’ve given everything, it takes just a little bit more.

So many of our guys are so young, and have been successful their whole lives. They have played against inferior talent their entire careers. Now they are coming into a league where every single night, for all 60 minutes, they're matched with equal talent. They have to learn that they have to apply their own skill and talent for the entire 60 of every game, and then give everything, and then give just a little bit more.

IMO.

Not gonna lie, I hate pretty much this entire thing. Yandle will end up costing too much and end up dead weight at some point. He's older than the prototypical player that Murray has gone after as well.

I also want nothing to do with Drouin. He's done nothing but whine and complain pretty much since he's been drafted. Pass.

Eberle hasn't been able to make Edmonton that good with a very good group of forwards. Why would he make any other kind of difference here?

- HonkFortheGoose

Thats fine, but Eberle is a consistent 60+ point RW. This is not a shot at you so please dont take it that way, but I love how the "Well he hasnt helped Edmonton, so he sucks argument happens. Eberle can't play offense, defense and goalie.

He has been a 60+ point player in this league since his rookie year. He is on pace for 54 this year, which will be his lowest total since his rookie year.

I suppose you would have said the same if two years ago i said
Trade For
Evander kane
Zach bogosian
Ryan O'Reilley
Jaime McGinn
(Draft top 3)

It may not happen, but those are the things i would look at doing.

- ImThatGuy

That's two trades...
Looks like u want to make about eight
It just isn't gonna happen
Not realistic

I get what you're saying. And I'm not saying he sucks, what I'm saying is I don't think he's a guy that's going to put us over the top, as he hasn't been able to do that with a much more talented group of players in Edmonton. That's all.

And again im going to say. He cannot play defense or goalie.

AS for Drouin. Super talented young forward, that has had issues with his team. not the first time that has happened.

Drouin is a malcontent on a team that's a contender. He's not going to sit here quietly on a team that's not actually a contender (yet).

2 of those trades are sell offs at the deadline.

5 in the offseason.

7 total.

Murray made 8 trades last year between the deadline and the draft.

The reason he is a "malcontent" is he is not playing when everyone and their mother knows he should be. All he wants to do is play.

He would be playing here, no issue.

Not true. We don't know what happens behind closed doors there. I find it hard to believe that Yzerman is not playing him just to not play him.

Well thats a bit narrow to think... getting Yandle would be definitely difficult and expensive (NOT saying he wouldn't be a huge upgrade) but you put all your eggs in one basket and lose out then you get nothing

I would definitely look at Tyson Barrie and Shultz both young both playing great already on teams that are mediocre (kinda where were at)

It's claimed he had lingering injury issues and they limited his play in Mid Nov. And he immediately demanded a trade.

Yes Im sure, What you are saying is Drouin is no better than JT Brown, Erik Condra, Jonathan Marchessault????, Cedric Paquette.

Drouin has more talent in one hand then any of those players.

So you personally know Yzerman and know that he's not playing Drouin just because he doesn't want to.

Got it.

Fair, at least you didn't shoot both my suggestions down

could you offset that by pairing him with a more stay at home partner? the kid has played in the big club 3 years and is averaging 30 points a year in Edmonton.

This is not the first time Yzerman has gotten into a situation with a player.

I'm not saying that is the only reason, but I wouldn't put it completely to rest.
Drouins stats prove he belongs in the NHL.

I would happily take Drouin over 75% of this forward group.
Reinhart, Eichel, ROR, Kane.

Anyone else, Drouin can take their spot.

You and I will disagree and that is fine.

Yandle is the only person in that list that would improve this defense and would be somewhat worthy of the cost, IMO. It is why is suggested trading for his rights.

Barrie is a possiblity, but i think he re-signs, so i don't even consider him.

My point exactly. Yzerman is the common denominator in the St Louis, Stamkos, and Drouin incidents. He also brought them to a cup final.

Hampus Lindholm and Sami Vatanaan in Anaheim both need contracts. Both are RFA's like Girgs. I don't think you could get one straight up. Lindholm would be my 1st choice but what do people think the cost is for either one. Fowler is another option, would Anaheim take a pick around the draft for him.
