Well.. The game is watchable now. I actually look forward to the next game after even this loss. kids are still learning and you couldn't expect too much a year after a full shake down.
Team is on the up slope vs the free fall that was 2 seasons ago. Hang in there.

Any plans of heading west in the near future ?

Remember that time when people were already writing off Reinhart....

That was fun.

I'm enjoying his progress. Now lets hope Jack does the same in his second season.

We have talked about coming to Buffalo for a weekend. Wifey has a couple of health issues we want to resolve before coming..... As far as the Sabres... I have watched a few more games this season but to tell you the truth I am sick and tired of the Sabres and Bills always rebuilding and never accomplishing a damn thing.... Hell Cab they are likely to finish last in the league again...

I just don't see this team ever dominating anyone. They still seem.... Timid to me...

I will say Reinhart is currently Better than Eichel as an overall hockey player.

I'm sure that will change as we move in to next year.

Going beyond the 2 goals which he scored last night...

Reinhart is looking better and better on the ice...he's finally becoming that player we all wanted him to be when we drafted him: a guy who makes everyone on the ice better when he is on with them

EDIT: just looked at the box score....WEBER GOT A GOAL!?

Be prepared for an onslaught of Weber is our best d-man today.

Here are my new thoughts as of this morning for the offseason

Sing Yandle to a 5 yr 32.815 MM Contract
8
7.2
6.5
5.85
5.265
Trade Bogosian+ to Edmonton for Eberle.
Draft Pujujarvi or Laine.
Ennis - What is his value. What kind of d-man can we get for him?

Add
Yandle
Eberle
Pujuu or Laine
D-man from ennis trade

A 40 point improvement is pretty much unheard of. I don't know that any team has ever done that. I expected 20-25. Rome wasn't built in a day.

How does a guy like Mike Harrington have a job? He is a joke. Terrible opinions and just zero hockey knowledge. I swear if I ever met the guy I'd have a hard time not punching him straight in the bananas

Agreed. I figured 70-75 points this year. That being said if we do not hover around 90 points next year. I will start to get concerned.

-Projected to be 20 points better
-2 of the top 3 scorers are rookies
-4 of the top 5 scorers weren't here last year
-Top 2 scorers from last seasons have less than 10 goals
-Top goaltender out for half the season and has come back and played 5 great games and 1 bad one

Sorry Mike Harrington, your post doesn't impress me one bit. If you thought they were going to go from last to 1st then I'd love what you're smoking. This team is exactly where they should be at this point.

I sell at the deadline.
McGinn, Legwand, Moulson (Please), Franson,

All Available

In the off-season

Draft top 3 get Laine, or the Pujujarvi fella.
Sign Yandle to a 7 yr 46.96MM contract
If Moulson is not traded, buy him out
Trade Ennis and a pick for a top 4 d-man
Trade Bogosian for a young winger

Defense next year
Yandle
Risto
Pysyk
Gorges
(Ennis trade)
McCabe

- ImThatGuy

I am very scared regarding the idea of signing Yandle to a long term deal at his age as I don't think he's the kind of defenseman Buffalo needs to play on the top pair, plus I feel like a giant contract for him could turn into an anchor on the cap quickly.

The time to buy Moulson out, despite his horrid play, may be further down the road, unfortunately.

I think you are the only one here that feels that way about the Sabres. I know you said you havent watched many games. But this team is fun to watch again. The kids never give up no matter what the score. We do have some dead weight, but lines are finally starting to click. The youngs guys are getting much better each game. Next year will be very interesting. 40 point improvment? Are you nuts? I expected them to be right where they are point wise this season. We are on pace to finish about 19 points better than last year. I am happy with that. If we do the same next year we are at 91 points..... Then the following year we are up top with the big dogs. Exactly the timeline i thought it would take to make this all come together. We tore apart our complete roster and you wanted a 40 point increase? Why? Because we got ROR and Eichel? The NHL more than any other sport is all about chemistry. NFL, MLB, NBA you can plug guys in and it doesnt make to much of a difference. The 3 forwards playing together and 2 d playing together need to know a lot about the guys they play with before it "works" and this takes time. Call the fire department, put the fire out and R-E-L-A-X

I updated it to be a 5 year and not 7 year. I am with you. 7 year deal is too long for him.

Not to mention insulting the local fan base. Yesterday called Buffalo fans overrated and uneducated. Whether you think that or not, we're the ones that pay your salary Mike.

Saw a tweet that said something to the effect of "Can't wait for the baby boomers to stop buying print media and Harrington becomes a blogger for HockeyBuzz"

Please tell me when our last rebuild was. I'll wait. Because we haven't rebuilt since before the 04-05 lockout so that's more than 10 years ago. When Briere and Drury left we tried to keep getting into the playoffs even though we lost our 2 best players. We started poorly in 2010-2011 and didn't tank and made the playoffs. Started poorly again in 2011-2012 and, again, didn't tank. It wasn't until after that we decided to tank it and finally rebuild which takes some time. You can't get to last, get that 1st pick, and then immediately win the cup. Play Be a GM mode if you want that.

Man if only fans could make trades.

I have Edmonton with me on a Foligno and Bogosian swap for Eberle.
