Last call is 4am there (though it sounds like that's being threatened now).

Even when we worked til 4am (I was an employee at said sub shop), we had some bars we'd go to after work for a few drinks.

They've been talking about changing to 2am for 20 years now. But at least Colosso is still open until 2ish during the week and like 3 or 4 on the weekend depending on how busy they are, and they were like the only place open on New years Eve.

Yeah they definitely earn their pay in some places. Personally I've never found use for them. Never needed one and don't want to.

Seguin with 3 games or Bergeron with 4? I went with Bergeron.

That part doesn't bother me. It's their day, they can have it whenever they want. I just HATE that he picked the day of the draft, when it's here in Buffalo, to have it. The two of us have only been season ticket holders for like 7 years now. I didn't want to go to the draft or anything.

If it's a Friday evening wedding that's a little better, but there's nothing worse than a wedding at 3 on a Friday afternoon, outside, when it's 93 degrees out.

I grew up in Kenmore. So, yeah. Definitely a change for me.
The criminals are pretty brazen out here and that video is basically just of bored people with nothing to do and a full tank of gas.

I guess its just a question of whether a person prefers to look at the glass as half full, or half empty.

It's funny, because in real life I'm generally pretty cynical. I call myself a realist, but if you want to say pessimist I won't argue. But when it comes to sports I'm the eternal optimist. Maybe not the "this is the year" guy, but the "we're going to be better" guy even when things are not looking great I can always find some stat to find some solace in the fact that they're doing something right, or at least better.

yeah. from an outsiders perspective, it sounds bad. but it's just like any other larger city. the stuff in that video happens in the area that compares to the East side of Buffalo. I live in an area that could probably be best compared to Elmwood Village or the North Buffalo/Hertel area. However, there's always people out there looking to take advantage of someone who isn't paying attention, nice neighborhood or not. People occasionally get brazenly mugged in my neighborhood for something stupid like a backpack….could be filled with bricks for all the mugger knows, but they go for it any way. its an interesting experience to say the least.

I don't think the Jets are too far off. They have been incredibly unlucky this season.

They have been a very good possession team, but got brutal goaltending to start the year, then have just been getting bad puck luck.

They are 21st in PDO

Same for me.

For the Sabres anyway.

I've more or less surrendered passion for the Orioles or the Bills.

For this season sure. Difference is I was comparing them to the Islanders. I doubt any Jets fans are happy with the way the season went.

I for one, am not striving for the Sabres to become the Islanders.

But again....my expectations of the end result of this rebuild seem to be different from others. I want us to be cup contenders, not playoff contenders.

what makes you think anyone here will be happy with a rebuild that results in a playoff contender, or that anyone believes the rebuild is anywhere close to complete?

Happens here too. At UB(south campus), granted not the nicest area, but far from the worst(for my money it's the fruit belt). They've been getting reckless, mugging people in broad daylight with many witnesses around, or even down by Forest Lawn and Canisuis there's a bank there, used to be M&T, don't know if it's changed now, but that place used to get robbed 2, 3 times a year, and that's in a super high traffic area. desperate and/or stupid people do desperate things. It doesn't matter where you live.

That video was awesome though.

While not as intense as Oakland's worst. I've got a culture change for ya'. Grew up in Clarence and moved to New York City where I lived at separate times in Spanish Harlem and Brooklyn. For the most part it's one of those things where you keep to yourself and don't look at anybody funny and you should be all right. I always tried to look a little tougher than I was if it was past midnight and I was walking by myself. Lucky enough not to be in the real bad parts of the city when I lived there but I did go through them frequently and always was on a bit of an edge.

I don't think I could live like that. I grew up sheltered. The whole small town thing. I live in Hartland now. I can take a leak in my backyard, or walk naked to the pool (if I still had one). I don't, but I'm sure I could leave my house unlocked for days or weeks at a time with no worries. That said, there's always the chance of a tweaker or a drunk knocking on the door. I have a clear sign on the door, with pictures, letting people know I have a conceal/carry permit and will defend if necessary.

My buddy at work grew up near Hells Kitchen in NYC and lives here now. He says that the thieves are so shrewd that they can literally pick your pocket or steal your watch or necklace and you wouldn't have a clue anyone even touched you. Always carries his wallet in the front pocket too. I've never had any desire to visit NYC. Not a fan of crowds and dense population.

Hell's kitchen use to be a lot worse. Still a few block radius that has a strong homeless/drug addict population that is pretty shady at night. But yeah, only time I kept my wallet in my back pocket was when I was sitting down on the subway.
Lived there for six years. It's nice to visit but it's definitely not for everyone to live there. I got a bit sick of it.

I lived in NYC for 4 months while working for an investment company...their training center was on the 87th floor of the WTC Tower. Lived in a hotel near Madison Square Garden...used to walk home at night frequently, including through parts of Hells Kitchen...I'm 6'5", but there were times each night that I asked myself what the hell I was thinking.
I loved NYC ... Got to know the city very well, including where to get great dinners in little Italy and Greenwich village for very reasonable. I had an absolute blast there!

Oh, I forgot to mention….i went to a college located in Bed-Stuy.
That kind of broke me in to having eyes in the back of my head.
Never got mugged, but definitely came real close.
Knew a lot of people that did.
With all of this conversation said, WNY is just a great place to live! Wish there were more jobs. I need to stay in a bigger city until my student loans are paid off!
