Then please explain the rational of how the OT penalty shot was closer to the rule book
- bluengold12

Can't. But I can separate them as two separate incidents. They are not mutually exclusive.

They are when you're saying the first didn't hit all of the four points when the second one didn't even look like it hit any...

I have issues with Bylsma's O system, zone entries in particular. The come in way too flat (3 across) rather than in a multilayered approach (high, low, middle) so it is much easier to defend and harder to find passing lanes....and no trailer ( conservative)

Look, I'm done arguing. The first one wasn't a penalty shot. It sucks, because I have seen ones like that get(incorrectly) called. The second one wasn't a penalty shot, but was (incorrectly) awarded. That sucks. We lost. That sucks. I get it, but two different events that had absolutely nothing to do with each other and trying to make them one doesn't change anything. One correct call, one incorrect call. That's all that's there.

Could it be anymore clear that NHL has a bias for a team like Boston?!?!
If it wasn't the case, tonight's game definitely proves that point.

I can't believe Marvin Harrison got in before TO.

Edit: Harrison definitely deserves to go, but he played with an all-time great the majority of his career.

TO had a few seasons with Young sure, and Donovan McNabb was no slouch, Tony Romo is pretty decent, but he also had Jeff Garcia, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Andy Dalton. I mean come on!

Double edit: How could I forget about Trent Edwards and his illustrious career!

without a doubt, just excited about next year, and this summer to see what happens in free agency. The Sabres need to go after Yandle, Demers, or Russell. Hopefully they get one.

He's a better skating weber. Im still of the opinion that draft day trade is their best bet.

Yes, yes it is. I need 2 points for 550 and I'm probably going to lose. Although Geaudreau, MacKinnon and Byfuglien are still playing tonight, so I should get a few more points. But the other guy has 9 games in hand on me tomorrow and I only have a 42.5 point lead right now. http://fantasy.hockeybuzz.com/hbsl/boxscore/413

Should be interesting. I see Larsson being the odd man out, but who would you replace him with without totally rejiggering the lineup?

when d steps up like boston does u have to go flat across and spread out the ice, keeping the aggresive defenseman on his heels, unless were dumping and chasing but yeah i agree once in they need to get layers as well as lateral seperation.

It's irrelevant that the Bruins are one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference.

It doesn't matter that in a home and home series, the Sabres scared the hell out of that team, and took them to overtime in each game.

It doesn't matter that there were plays in both games that might have pushed the games to both be wins for the Sabres, not the Bruins.

All that matters is that we lost both games, and our place in the standings sucks.

The Sabres suck. The GM sucks. The coach sucks. The players are disappointments.

My uncle Gene, who now has Alzheimer's, used to yell at the tv while watching bowling, "Throw the bum out" every single time a player rolled anything other than a strike.

Amazing, isn't it?
- mhp

Amazing that everyone or most have a different opinion isn't it, (frank)ing amazing ?

And I thank the good Lord for that everyday, every (frank)ing day!

We've (the fans that are frustrated) given pretty valid reasons why we are not too thrilled with the way things are going at the present.

Speaking for myself, I don't need a Leafs fan nor any Sabres fan trying to to tell me how I should feel about this rebuild at this point. After all, i've only watched this team since its inception is all.
People see things differently all the time in all facets of life, that's amazing isn't it?
And thank God for that!
Shall we all join in on a few chorus's of Amazing Grace ?
Amazing might just be the most improperly overused obnoxious word out there.
Some need to learn what the word really means before they utilize it.

Thank you. Just calling the way I see them . The anger on the Leafs board is never directed that much at management as the guys on the ice. What is with that Hard Head poster . Did he used to work for the team and get fired or something , a fan could never get that angry . Switched to the Sabres game. Reinhart is going to be amazing . Sens are killing the Leafs.

Good :

Samson - I have been more impressed with him than Jack all season long, I said it from the start.
Lehner - Another okay played game for him although he did give out a poop ton of rebounds which he was bailed out on by his defense.
Larsson - Really growing on me, playing bigger than he really is.
Gionta - A lot of people rag on this guy including me sometimes, but he certainly hasn't been hurting this team.

Bad :

Risto - was downright atrocious last night, his game was in the crapper just about from the onset of the game.

Ugly :

Officiating - gets us once again in the end against Boston, horrible way to end that game.
Ray - how many times he uses the word excellent during a broadcast and I love the guy.
Marchand - his face!

heres the point: fans of the Buffalo Sabres, at this time in the history of the franchise, have to be satisfied with moral victories. Fans of every franchise in every sport will have to endure down years - it's inevitable.

For me, that doesn't mean that I blame the franchise, and every part of it, for enduring the low points of the cycle. Nor does it mean I sit on my hands smiling and waiting forever while ineptitude allows the bottom of the cycle to roll out beyond the necessary time.

The point of my post is to recognize that isn't happening with the Sabres, and that the team is much closer to excellence that the teeth gnashers and clothes renders would have us believe. We started the rebuild last year, and - even comparing the Sabres to very very good teams (not last year's "designed to lose" Sabres) - we're very close to very good.

The small difference between "very close to very good" and EXCELLENCE is the difference between winning and losing a game like last night's (and many others this season).

At bottom, the question is whether my love for the team will permit me to see what's good now, and trust even more of that good is coming, or does it make me angry that the team isn't handing me a Stanley cup parade every single year.

In my fandom, there's room for alternatives other than the cup. There has to be. Does that mean I don't want the Sabres to win the cup? Of course not. But it doesn't mean I'm not gonna enjoy the ride up, and hope it goes as fast as possible.
