It's kind of scary that this can be taken seriously at this point.

You would think with how decimated the Penguins lineup is every year, we'd be used to it by now eh?

Can we not jinx Kessel please? We need him in a big way this weekend and calling a break out performance doesn't help. I believe that if we're gonna come away with two points from the weekend, Kessel and Hagelin will have to combine for four goals.

The Penguins making a wtf trade while hammered with injuries? We could believe near anything for a moment.

How are things looking through those rose colored glasses Ryan? Relook at the video in slow speed. Jenner in on his path well before Malkin goes to his. Malkin has to avoid a teammate, and goes towards Jenner's position. As the hit is happening, Jenner tries to pull his knee in.

Now go back to full speed and count how much timw between Malkin changes directions and the hit. about a half a second. Completely unintentional. There was eve another player or two in between them, which so happens to be the player Malkin avoids. Accidents happen, but I guess thay doesn't apply here because its a Penguin superstar. Actually, Jenner does try to hit him with a should (look at his upper body motion during the hit).

At least the announcers are objective!!!!!

Talk to Montreal. They'll only trade for guys you put on waivers earlier.

Sundqvist for Mark Letestu. Book it.

If this is true, Malkin should have bowed out of the ASG. A full week off plus a game suspension for rest and recoup would have done him good.

Exactly. Why was he there if he had a nagging knee injury? Not to mention he looked fine.

At the risk of igniting a firestorm:

The result of the hit was extremely unfortunate, but based on that video it sure didn't look like Jenner had any intention to do that nor was it reckless.

Intent shouldnt matter, but apparently you should apply to work in teh NHL front offices.

According to Yohe, Malkin was feeling better but reaggravated the injury in the last few days since returning from the ASG. Basically said he was fine when he went but got dinged up after returning and skipping the game probably wouldn't have changed the outcome.
- jaydogg1974

Ahhhhh still a bummer but that makes more sense. I dont think the team would send him to the ASG knowing he was dinged up with our injury history.

Malkin was producing at over a PPG and dominating possession during the time since the Jenner hit. I doubt it was bothering him that much. He probably re-aggravated it.

If intent mattered then there would never be any penalties or suspensions in the league. They would just apologize and say they didnt mean to do it. He still took Malkins knee out with a knee to knee hit. Last I checked that wasnt legal.

That POS Neil tripped Malkin from behind in the last game. Obvious penalty that wasn't called. I wonder if that's where he got hurt? Malkin didn't look the same after it.

Kessel is a player that can elevate his game. I'm not calling a breakout he broke out 6 years ago, I am calling him stepping up.

I'm too nervous to say anything about him though. I have a feeling that as goes Kessel as goes the Penguins this week. But maybe I should. My timely slandering of Hornqvist and Kunitz got them up and going perminantly, and it's not like Kessel has been a slouch this season even if he hasn't exactly lived up to his standards. Maybe if I call him out it will result in four consecutive hat tricks

Penguins are the most injured team this decade by a massive margin. Every single season they are one of the most injured teams. Though a lot of it is Malkin and Letang are never healthy and that kills their chances to compete.
