If you're gonna call up Cousins, then just (frank)ing waive Weal. If you don't think he's part of your NHL team, and you think that Cousins, Umberger, and White are better, then just waive him and either let another team claim him or have him play in the AHL if he passes.

Why? He's an RFA next season and could have trade value. Just because they don't use him today doesn't mean they'll never use him.

I don't think that's the case at all. But if they truly think that he's not as good as RJ Umberger, then I'd rather them free up the contract slot.
