No, sorry. 4 1st overall picks and 5 in the top 3 is your franchise.

I find that very hard to believe. While Fasching's skating isn't top notch, any player that's a prospect for an NHL team has to be a better skater than an average joe off the street.
- HonkFortheGoose

I was exaggerating for effect
If he continues to improve his skating (which he has IMO so far), then he could end up being a pretty good prospect & eventually a good player for us
I'm just hesitant until then
Skating is more important than ever in today's game

I forgot Letang, Keith, Suter, McDonagh. He's just not in that category yet
- sbroads24

I'll amend & say top20 then for arguments sake
Draisaitl has a ways to go to get there,
Although like I said, I do like him a lot

Depends. If I needed to win one game or series, I'm taking the proven player. If I'm starting a team, I'm taking McD over anyone in the league
- sbroads24

Seguin is 24, Tarasenko is 24, Karlsson is 25, Subban is 26, Benn is 26, Toews is 27, Kane is 27, Kopitar is 28, Crosby is 28, Price is 28, Malkin is 29, Ovie is 30

I'm not talking about like the Sedins, Chara, Marleau, or Thornton here who have only a handful of seasons left in the NHL.

These are YOUNG proven guys. I don't think that answer is as easy for me.

(I can see the argument against the Crosby, Malkin, Ovie, Price due to just damage to their bodies over already ~10 year careers and being 28+)

I've retorted a thousand times and you just ignore and rant the same thing forgetting any context or logic

First/ we've not been rebuilding for a decade. You were wrong there. We've established this.

Second/ebs, yaks have no bearing on your contention as one wasn't drafted high and the other hasn't done much thus far. Neither can be named in why we should be better due to high picks...make sense ?

Third/ no one ever said we need ekblad. But yet you continue to harp on this point regardless that it was used for context in reference to your post . Essentially you use yaks as a reason and this is false. Because it's not like we drafted a stud mackinnon is the point. Make sense? Pedigree after the fact means nothing

Fourth/ when we're supposed to be better? Right after hall and nuge? Well you got eichel/reinhart and a better supporting cast and still aren't.
Or After yaks? Well we've discussed this right!?

Fifth- nurse never played till this year. Neither did Connor and he missed 3 months. Leons first real crack is this year. So again when should we have been better?

All asking is to use logic and context. Not even saying you're entirely wrong

- HB77

Sorry, but my logic is sound.

You have been drafting high since 2007, so you haven't established anything. Saying that Yak shouldn't count as help for improving your team is just ridiculous. It's your own franchises fault you couldn't develop him properly, just like it's are own fault we screwed up Grigerenko. And Ebs is a well-established player, he should be helping to improve your club.
Again, you're comparing Eichel and Reinhart turning our team around to Hall and RNH, talk to us in 3 years, not after 50 games.
Yes, you yourself stated if you had Ekblad and Mckinnon things would be different.
And, again, so Connor's been hurt, you have so many top-end guys on your roster. Losing Connor no doubt would hurt but to be sitting at bottom three without him, C'mon, man.

Yes they have.
Their current position as the leagues female dog can solely be attributed to not insulating those draft picks with capable veteran help (thanks Tambellini). And its happening again with Nurse.
I think Chiapet will do things differently, probably starting this offseason. At least I hope he does.

- Wildschwein

Edmonton's issue was not the high picks. It was every 2nd and 3rd and 4th rd pick after that, that they completely whiffed on.

Couple that without adding any sort of vet leadership. Recipe for disaster.

I just don't see it as that easy... I just can't... Nothing against you either so don't get me wrong.

But if someone told me...

You can have this kid who is being called the next phenom and the next Gretzky but he has only played 14 games as PPG player but already got hurt and missed 37 games.

OR.

You can have a multiple Stanley Cup Champion and current points leader Patrick Kane at the age of 26.

Last years points leader Jamie Benn or 2nd place John Tavares. Or 24 year old Tyler Seguin.

poop I have completely even forgot about Tavares and Stamkos up to this point.

I think I am taking the guy with less "Could be" and "ifs" in his resume?

He's the modern day Iginlia. But better at the moment. It doesn't hurt he has Seguin either.

If I'm starting a team from scratch and given ages into account I'm probably taking McDavid

It was a fluke injury that could have happened to anyone.

Connor McDavid is already a top 10-15 player in this league. Without that fluke injury, i think many would see that.

I see what you are saying but Patrick Kane would probably be the 10th player I would pick. Given his position. I think centers go first and then a few defenseman before Kane.

it would be AWFULLY hard for me to pass him up... or Kane.

The only thing I like about McDavid more is that he plays Center. I don't like having a winger be the best player on your team because he can be dragged down by bad center play but not as much vice versa.

It'd be hard to say.. yea.. I'll take these guys over multiple time Norris Trophy winner Karlsson... or Subban, or Seabrook/Keith. Then take a guy like Kopitar, Bergeron, Giroux, etc. in your 2nd round of this fake draft.

I don't know.

He is probably the most complete hockey player do I want a fancy player to add a points or do I want a player that's going to take me to the Stanley Cup can play with a broken leg broken nose and still punch people in the face I don't know that's a tough one

C'mon now...

Where would you put Eichel then? Top 25? Top 50?

So McDavid will never get a Stanley cup because all he is is a "Fancy player" that scores a crap ton of points?

When playing injured and fighting wins you a cup, ill take that guy. but last i saw, you need to score more than the other team.

Watch the video of him asking Cam Newton a question...

- Stripes77

You know the issue I have with that whole topic?

Why is it not racist what Cam said?

Why are people calling Jerry a racist just because he is calling Cam out on his imbecilic mouth diarrhea and then wants to try and twist the way we all know that he meant it?

This whole "race" thing is driving me right out of my effing skull, including whatever tards were trying to infer that whatever awards were racist because they were all white actors/actresses and no black ones.

Will Smith, Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Cuba Gooding Jr., James Earl Jones just to name a few have never been nominated or won???????

I mean wtf is going in America these days?
Afro americans are allowed to have the NAACP awards along with BET and we white folk are just like whatever.
But if we were to have White Entertainment Television or NAAWP they would be losing their effing minds.
I'm so sick of the race card being used by afro americans, I really am sick of it!
