Yeah I personally wasn't all onboard with signing him with his start this season. I was fine with moving him if that were the case but with his play as of late, I want to bring him back.
- arichardson22

Neither was I. I felt he needed to prove himself this season and I think quietly he has started to do that as the season moves on.

He is a top 6 forward so I dont see the big deal in him "needing top 6 minutes" He is an asset on the PP.

This is a situation where Id hope to use Brock Nelson as a reference....but if they decide to lower the AAV by tacking on a bunch of years I am okay with it

- YuenglingJagr

He's been spoon fed top 6 minutes since he got here and got those minutes beyond the point where he deserved it. When Berube moved him down in the lineup last year, it was way overdue. When Schenn was finally put on Couturier's wing, after the Flyers were already eliminated from playoff contention, he started putting up points.

I'm fine with keeping him (I admit, I'm not a fan), but I hope they don't overpay him.

I know how it has been, which is why the Hextall era is so exciting. It is exactly what they needed
- YuenglingJagr

Yes, we all see great things ahead, I just don't want any needless detours on the road there

Gudas is playing a few too many minutes and needs to take out those type of plays from his game. I do like him and what he brings. Ideally he'd be on the third pair playing under 15 minutes a game.
- Marc D

I like Gudas too. I think we forget how young he is. If he can keep the physicality and remove the dumb plays, he could be a good defenseman. He and MDZ have shown some strong chemistry together.

Quotes aren't working for me, but agreed with what many said about Gudas' hit. Looks a very poorly timed hip check attempt where he tried it too early, missed the near hip, and got the far leg.

talking a lot to myself this morning...but I think I have finally come to admit that the Hartnell - Umberger trade was bad.

especially how Hextall danced around other cap moves, Hartnells contract would not have killed the flyers...I think Hartnell was a victim of Berube and a point they were trying to make and I think Hextall actually thought Umberberger was useful.

I am okay with it because it is what it is at this point...I dont mind the Flyers being worse and getting draft picks as they rebuild so in some ways it is a good thing....but overall it was not the type of trade a team should be looking to make

- YuenglingJagr

I keep trying to convince myself it was a good deal but I think I'm jumping ship. I think it might have been the first opportunity Hexy had to clear cap space and may have panicked a bit when he actually realized what kind of cap situation Homer left him with. Nobody could have predicted he would have been able to move Pronger's contract or trade Vinny, or any of the other moves he made. But to be fair, we can't really judge the deal 100% for another few years.

Remember about Brayden Schenn: The guy is barely a calendar year from when he put up 3 goals in a 35 game stretch playing top line minutes.

That scoring pace is practically Umbergian.

I was mentioning yesterday that I think people will give McDavid every benefit of the doubt when it comes to the Calder voting.

These sorts of goals will only support my theory:

he does make some bad decisions some times but a guy like that is real tough to play against...He hits to hurt. Your bang on he is young. He brings an element no one else brings currently on the back end. Hopefully he can clean up some of the mistakes.

There's no rush, I'd let the season play out before making a decision. He's an RFA, so there's little, if any, risk in waiting

to be fair ...Didn't Vorecek have 1 goal in 30 games this year?

Prongers contract was easy to see. Huge cap hit and no actual salary. Vinny trade blew me away though. The cap space thing is just so weak IMO. The trade will not clear any reasonable amount of space until after next season

Agreed. He and MDZ could be a nice 2nd pairing on a good team

Voracek put up 3 goals in 40 games between 2/21/15 and 11/12/15, so I guess he's an overpaid bum, too.

Some of you guys really need to let go of your grudges and just enjoy the points. And remember, assists are points, too.

he is the best rookie in the NHL...and it's not close. But he may not play enough to get consideration. To me that's fair.

That was more of an aberration for Voracek.

Schenn has had prolonged goal scoring droughts on multiple occasions.

I admit I just don't think Brayden Schenn is all that special. I certainly don't want to see him get overpaid and regret it 2 years from now.

Even if he finishes behind Larkin and Panarin in points, he will be given every benefit of the doubt by voters IMO.

They score goals at almost exactly the same rate for their careers.

I don't think there is intent to injure, but it's simply a bad decision by Gudas. He should remove the hip check from his arsenal.
- MJL

Gudas missed a hit and rolled like a tumble weed in the first play of the game. He looked like a buffoon all night.

Random thought:

Is there any team that has more first round draft picks on their roster than the Flyers? Jake, G, Coots, Schenn, Gagner, Umberberger, Laughton, MDZ...too bad we traded Vinny and Luke

don't think he'll ever be a star...but I think he's capable of putting up 30 goals a year and playing a better all around game, as he gets older. ... you need some pieces that are complimentary as well.
