No, they're trying to be better than you. That's not true defense. Their trying has no direct effect on your ability to succeed. - Scoob
Agreed...but they are "actively" trying to be better than you, thus actively trying to stop you from achieving your goals. Agreed it's not direct, but it is active. |

Hammarby actually started defending him last night - Just5
I don't get it. What's to defend? The kid's a good prospect having a terrific year in the AHL. |

No, it involves walking large distances compared to standing around in a field for 90% of the time that you're not batting one out of 9 times. That's way more physical exertion.
Also, you run to your next station (or, in some cases, slowly jog) about 3 out of 10 times if you're good, and you usually take breaks after running 90 feet. - jmatchett383
ok, I'm not sure (because you haven't made it crystal freakin' clear), but it seems like you don't really respect baseball. |

I think that baseball is a sport. It's also an extremely difficult game to be good at. But if you're going to use it as a comparison to why golf is not a sport, I will disagree.
I'd argue that, aside from the pitcher, there is more physical exertion from playing a round of professional golf than by playing a game of professional baseball.
I like baseball. I don't like golf. But if one is a sport, then it seems like the other is as well. However, I'd argue that bowling, billiards, and poker are not sports. |

I wouldn't agree with the latter, but I agree it's a bad comparison to de-sport golf. |

Don't wanna come across as not giving Schenn any credit, but Jake's combined skill set and NZ/OZ dominance is close to being G's equal, and probably near the top of the league too. He's nigh irreplaceable to the Flyers, and that's why he's probably gonna be worth every penny of that deal.
Replace Schenn with a Andrew Shaw ($2M cap hit) or something and I'm not sure you'd see that much of a drop off at all. - Tomahawk
I am also a Baby Schenn supporter, but just because he made a really sweet pass on the PP and a graze off deflection goal on the PP, it doesn't change the fact he is still a meh ES player, and if he can only succeed next to Couturier...speaks more to Coots really. His WoWY have never been pretty. I think a ~4x4 deal is fine, but if he gets traded for a relatively high draft pick, I wouldn't be opposed either. I'd like to see a lot more consistency at evens from him this second half. |

I'm open to arguments that bowling is, but not billiards or poker. Put me in the "chess is not a sport" camp as well. |

I don't know. I think the calories you'd burn simply by walking from shot-to-shot/hole-to-hole are more than swinging a bat a few times 1/18th of the time and standing around for the majority of the time with short bursts of energy. |

Bowling could be argued, to an extent. But hey, in billiards, you can actively/directly defend. |
