You and I have a differing view on how to interpret the facts & possibilities of this team, though you did contradict yourself, above. I will be more glass-is-half-full next season with new owners and hopefully a new GM and coaches. Until then, there is zero reason to expect better from this team as they do not deserve our optimism. - jmo16

I meant anything was possible in regards to the standings and them falling out of playoff contention. I don't see it as likely, but you can't rule it out.
I did not mean anything is possible in regards to trading Kyle Okposo.
In order to trade him, the Islanders would have to fall so far out of playoff contention by February 29th that there wasn't even a reasonable notion that they might have a shot to make it. They would literally have to lose every single game in Feb and see other wildcard contenders win nearly all of their's.
There is no logic in moving Okposo. |

We have to lock up that gritty, defensive stalwart Okposo asap. |

Nelson doesn't want to go home to Minnesota, he hates it there. He told me so, we're best friends. |

After a long layoff what are the odds the Islanders come out flat and disorganized tomorrow night?
Bank on it. They come out flat after a 3 day lay off. Let alone a week. |

I agree no logic moving KO at this point—not unless they can pull a sign & trade. Should have been dealt in the off season. Am sure Garth had offers—maybe they weren't as good as he wanted b/c of the eye injury last year but now he is a player we will keep for a short playoff run and best we can hope for is a marginal draft pick for negotiating rights after the season. BIG FAIL. Really inexcusable.
edit: Hey! Connor McDavid returns tomorrow. Now we can all discuss important hockey-related issues. |

I don't think anybody hates the guy (save for one poster) I think we just know he's not going to be worth whatever he gets in July. I know its highly unlikely but I wish we could include him in some sort of trade to get a return on him before he hits FA while somehow maintaining our GF. If Strome and Lee were playing somewhere close to the level they were last year it'd make the decision to trade him so much easier. |

“We had a good meeting before we left,’’ Capuano said. “There’s got to be an accountability factor amongst the guys. It’s going to come from the coaches on who we put in the lineup, but if we’re going to have any success at all and we want to make a run at this, those guys have to hold each other accountable. Great teams have accountability amongst themselves.

I differ........ I'd rather get something than nothing regardless of what the teams position is bc isles are NOT making it past 1st rd again w/this roster & coaching staff.... |
