Personally I feel like the media sometimes over rates him due to his possession #s, which are important, but the fact that he has such a limited skill set is why I think he's playing that bottom pair role.

I'd like to see whether he can handle playing a solid top 4 role.

- sbroads24

That's just it though. His skill set isn't limited. He's good at playing the game from one end to the other. He's just not flashy about it. He doesn't lay guys out. He doesn't rip shots from the point all the time. But he does skate exceptionally well, makes consistent tape to tape passes and is almost always in the right place at the right time. If this team could actually score on a more consistent basis, he'd have some more points because his outlet pass improves our transition game. In many cases, he's not going to show up on the scoresheet because of the type of game he plays, but that doesn't mean that he's not contributing to those scoring chances or goals. He may very well have started the play out of our zone, but wasn't the 3rd last guy to touch it.

I'm not sure if this was discussed but, once again Buffalo does prove its love for hockey is second to none.
Never surprises me really.
Even the Stanley Cup Finals we are normally the market with the most viewers that does not include one of the Stanley Cup Final participant locations.
Proud to be a true Buffalonian.
Born, raised and will never leave this once again ambitiously rising charming city nicknamed "The city of good neighbors".

Eh, I sort of disagree. He is a great skater, and has a good outlet pass, and can make plays with his stick. However, he provides little offense, is not really someone who can distribute the puck in the offensive zone, and is kind of weak in front of the net.

I think that's a reason why they might like McCabe more in the long run.

Either way, Pysyk should be playing more

This matters a lot more than offense IMO.

if they played psysk with a bogo, weber or gorges, he is then able to play his game

mccabe imo is a tweener that does a little of both, if they want his offensive skill, he should also be playing with a bogo, gorges or weber

I get what you're saying. He's by no means perfect. But nobody is. I'm not expecting him to go out there and be Duncan Keith, but I do feel he brings more to the table overall than Weber, Franson, Gorges, and Colaiacovo.

Considering where we are in the standings, and where we are in the rebuild, it would make sense to play Pysyk a lot to see what we have. Honestly, not trying to be cynical, but this is common sense for everyone besides our coaching staff and management.

But if a larger % of people in a given city, regardless of overall size are watching more hockey. Then that city likes hockey more than others.

Good point. Let's see what we get from Pysyk. If he rises to the occasion then great, otherwise we do what we are now. We know what we'll get from the vets, let's let the kid play

I agree, I'm just trying to figure out possibly why he isn't getting more time. He certainly is deserving of a few 20 minute games

I feel like the problem is that whoever they partner him with isn't capable of it, so he's held back as well. Having Weber or Colaiacovo as your partner isn't exactly going to get you a ton of ice time. When he was with McCabe, it was early in the season and I think they were trying to get a feel of where their games were. I'd like for them to either put him back with McCabe or see how things look with Bogosian, having Pysyk play the offside. The problem there, is you end up putting Gorges back with Risto and I don't know that he should be there either.

My other thought is that I'd like to see what Pysyk could do with Risto. It may fail miserably, but can't hurt to at least try, right?

my guess is either Murray is not high on pysyk, or the coach doesn't trust him

it's insane to play gorges 20 minutes a night and pysyk on par with weber for minutes

at some point you need to know what you have, and for some reason, pysyk doesn't get his chance with this regime

Could be any of the points you made. or something as simple as his production/efficiency falls off with more time on the ice. similar to Weber. would be nice to get a explanation for the vague answers we get from the Sabres.

Like what exactly is this top secret injury of Ennis's?
The hush on this is absolutely astounding.
