I could care less about those things the way the nhl treated him they should be ashamed

Do you think we would feel the same way had he not played on our team? I'm just curious. Yeah the NHL would still look like a Richard but would we be as upset if it was just some random name?

Maybe the NHL should listen to its players who are showing that it's worth a suspension to get a rest. 82 games plus preseason plus playoffs isn't easy and for better quality hockey they should either give more rests in the season or lower the number of games.

Why not just work in a bye like the NFL does. I don't think it would hurt if the NHL took five teams a week midseason and gave those team a 5-7 day break in the schedule.

Personally, I couldn't wait for Scott to get off the Sabres - so I don't really think that impacts my feelings here.

You could say I know more than someone in, say, Winnipeg, that Scott is a good teammate and an all-around-decent-guy... but no - you read that article and get no feels, you may just simply not have the feels.

Apparently that's a plan that might happen next season. Questions I have are is this going to:
A. Extend the season. It starts in September and ends in July. Should be over by May at the latest IMO.

Or

B. Keep the season the same length, have a week (or more) off, and then have more games closer together. More back to backs means more tired players.

Just two concerns I have.

I liked Scott on the Sabres (at least didn't dislike him). I knew he was here for one reason, knew we were tanking, and knew he wasn't the reason we were losing games.

It is a really good article though. Hope he wins the car.

Yes to make someone's life a living hell like that is truly disrespectful and disgusting. I always made fun of John Scott being here I called him the goon when we first signed him

I would still support him if he wasn't on our team

They should cut the season back to 74 games, start a week earlier and give all teams a week off at christmas and again at the trade deadline.

the NHL should just drop the ASG as nobody really watches or gives a crap.
Keep the week off for the players to rest up a bit.
And i agree the playoffs should end in May.
Maybe the 1st round should be best of 3
2nd round best of 5
then go best of 7

that would shorten it by like 2 weeks...which is getting better.

The sidestep the Flames fans are holding on to in defense of Wideman sure looks like a simple move to gather leverage for the crosscheck to me.

Much like the winter classic, the event still gets a lot of attention/hype in the host city (ticket sales, merch etc.) So for the time being they'll do it as they keep making a profit.

I think if the goal is to get the players more rest and it cant be done by shortening the season, dont make the playoffs suffer because of it. Casual and hardcore fans alike know the playoffs make the best hockey of the season, whether your team is in it or not. I could maybe see shortening the first round to a best of 5, but anything more than that and they have lost my interest in that route.

I would love it if they shortened the season to somewhere between 72-76 games, but they could just start halfway through september instead of october and add a day or two to the breaks they already get, along with giving them a week somewhere between the ASG and trade deadline.

He will have a hearing, he will get 10 games. He won't get 20.

I have had a hard time trying to figure out how I feel about this. As most know I officiate at a high level. I have been hit a few times, mostly on accident but there are a few times where I thought on purpose.

You can tell he wasn't with it. Kerry Fraiser did a good breakdown on his ask the ref piece on TSN.

What really gets me is how in the world did Calgary not put Weidman into the concussion protocol?

I think it could work if they had move back to backs, but made sure the back to back games where home games. With the less travel time, I think players could bounce back quicker.

I don't see them ever giving up that much revenue moving back to 74 games. Maybe they can go back to the 80 games season, dropping two games should free up around 4-5 days during the season where they can sandwich them together as a bye.

I dont think they would either, i would just be completely against neutering the playoffs to make rest for players, or to shorten the season length.

I don't think the schedule is a problem. These guys eat sleep and think hockey. They skate and work out all year. They can't wait to get to the rink. Doing something they love and paid very well for it. If your good , you can retire mid 30's and your family is set for life. Talk about winning the Lotto. It's a career they chose. No different than a steel worker, cept they prolly don't like their job, hours, pay, work until your 70 etc.

They chose poorly. His personnel choices are still baffling. This teams wins in the last little while have come from one or two individuals taking over a game. Encouraging yes but alarming re coaching.

That game against Ottawa was like a re incarnation of the ted nolan era. Weber on the first pair? shots 22-2 in the final period?

All i read about this summer is how great he'd be for our team puck possession numbers. They're still awful. The only reason they're not as bad as last year is because of the addition of certain players who are naturally good/great in this area.

- Sabresfan-365

I think the thing that's most alarming is we were the at the top of the league in possession and shots for/against at the beginning of the season for the first month or so, and the regression that's happened is quite alarming and plays right into the "Bylsma can't make adjustments" thing.

true LW, once mcginn is traded

kane, foligno, deslaurers

best lw prospect in pipeline, carrier

with skunk and girgens on the right, I think the bigger need is lw, as we have fasching and baptiste in the prospect pool for rw

- homiedclown

I guess Bylsma likes having lefties playing the right side. At least the skill guys anyway.

Right but they don't do that deal.

As far as trading the 1st overall pick, draft in Buffalo, no way they turn that down (have we ever had the 1st overall pick? and the kicker is draft in Buffalo).

I don't know if this was already answered, but yes. Gilbert Perrault. Turgeon too.

I feel bad for Jon Scott in that he's the center of attention in a way he doesn't want to be at all.

However, anyone who says this was about anything other than smart-ass fans mocking a system just like Rory Fitzpatrick in 2007 or even Girgensons last year is kidding themselves.
