I don't even know where Larkin came into play for comparison... just because he recently came from college?

Look at it this way...

Chris Kreider spent 3 years at Boston College and then went straight to the NHL for the Rangers IN THE PLAYOFFS.

At Boston College Kreider went:
38 GP - 23 pts
32 GP - 24 pts
44 GP - 45 pts

Now... THAT is a good comparison of equal levels for Fasching. Are we going to say that Kreider only getting to be a PPG player his Junior year makes him a bad player??

C'mon now.

- JVince11

Never once said that. My only debate here was assuming Fasching is "penciled in" to start 2RW next season. That's all. It's possible, of course. it's just questionable.

You do know Kane has been on the ice for the most even strength goals against for forwards on the team right?
- sbroads24

For comparison sake...

Kane has 111 hits in less games to BOedker's 15 all season.

In his world, if you trade a 1st overall you should be shot and buried, despite the return.

Okay... cool story. Goalies still have a .914 S% in ES play with Kane on the ice.

Still... if you were a GM... and you took Boedker over Kane as your top line LW. You wouldn't be a GM for very long.

Boedker is ARZ's leading scorer with 34 pts and is -18 on the ice too.

- JVince11

Neither are bonafide top line LW'ers. That's my point

Kane has a higher goals/60 played and draws double the amount of penalties per 60 minutes played as well.

I see your point. Kane is having a "down" year while Boedker is having a good year so it looks closer. Kane is absolutely a 1LW to every GM in the league though whether he is playing down or not. Boedker is not.

ROR plays pivot....

Centers never lead the forecheck for hits... guys like Toews, Kopitar, etc all have less than 50 as well.

Except the ones that have better LW'ers?

You're not saying he's one of the best wingers in the game are you?

Michael Peca says hi...

The fact that you are using hits as a statistic is pretty comical, the only thing it really means is the more hits the have the less they have possession of the puck

No I am not saying that...

I am saying that he is seen as a top line LW by every GM. Regardless of what they have on their team.. that is what he would be classified as. I don't think Boedker is there yet or deserves to be paid more than say 5.5M per year like Kane is.

I get that your point is that neither is a bonafide top LW.

My point is that... in terms of points I can see yours but in terms of overall game and 200 ft game.. i think that Kane just brings that much more to the ice and is more deserving of the pay grade and title. He does MORE for his team than just points on the board.

That is my thought. Not worth arguing/discussing any more though. I get your side.

It's kind of like the theory that if you're not constantly moving around in the D zone you're being lazy. Reality is if you are moving around a lot you're either getting taken to task by your matchup or you've lost him altogether

I don't think this is that true but regardless, I'd probably take Kane over Boedker, but not by much at all. Boedker is pretty good, just like Kane though he gets banged up

hey... way to join the conversation half way through...

Go back and reread... hits was like the VERY LAST thing I even mentioned.

I mentioned everything from EV S% of goalies, to Penalties drawn per 60, to DZ Starts, plus/minus, etc.

Good lord.

Peca for most of his career was a 2nd line C or checking line center too.

That's fine I get that....

I guess me saying "pencil" meant to me... if all goes very smoothly but not official or whatever.

Someone was discrediting him that it has taken 3 years to be a PPG player in college... must not have been you.

Good lord I read everything you said and I read sbroads rebuttals on all of them

Evander Kane has been on the ice for more even strength goals scored on the Sabres than every other forward

I see your raging hard on to oppose me in anything i say is still there from like 2 weeks ago.

As I already replied to him when he said that (which you apparently claim to have read though) is that even though Kane has been on the ice for more ES goals against.. Goalies during his ice time are posting a .914 S% while during Boedker's they are posting .901. Boedker is also -18 while being PHX leading scorer with 34 pts.

But you already read all that right?

Thanks. Please stop responding to me.

Which leads to my hesitation about paying two 2nd LW's $11M combined, potentially, especially with a 3rd LW already on the team making $5M for the next few seasons.

Get rid of Moulson and maybe. Even then I am not sold.

Argument could be made that as long as you have 2 solid scoring lines as your top 6.. the need for a "legit 1LW, 1C, or 1RW" is not needed.

I just think adding the speed Boedker has could help. I'm pretty sure he can play RW too, I might be wrong
